The position is a 1-year, full-time, hourly, contract role for a Food Service Assistant, reporting to the Cafeteria & Banquet Lead. The role involves working independently as part of a team to maintain cleanliness, tidiness, safety, and presentability of all kitchen facilities, and promptly reporting any safety or hygiene concerns.

What you'll be doing.
- Determine food inventory needs, stocking and ordering.
- Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing and preparing sauces.
- Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, to specified recipes and standards.
- Ensure the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines.
- Other related duties as may be required.
What you'll need to be successful.
- Minimum high school education
- Experience of kitchen equipment and dangerous equipment such as knives.
- Required to obtain WHMIS certification.
- Previous Food and Banquet experience.
- Ability to work independently and produce high-quality food.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Good oral communication and team player.
- Positive and approachable manner.
- Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you.
- Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes.
- High standards for food safety and cleanliness.
