Position Overview

Blockdaemon is looking for a FinOps Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is critical in ensuring effective financial planning, cloud cost optimization, vendor management, and operational efficiency across the organization. The FinOps Specialist will act as a bridge between Finance, Engineering, and Operations to provide transparency, governance, and actionable insights on financial performance.

Your Impact

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including cost allocation, billing, and expense tracking.

  • Prepare regular financial reports and dashboards for leadership, highlighting spend trends, variances, and opportunities for optimization.

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Conduct analysis of cryptocurrency transactions using both open-source and third-party tools

  • Provide key information to auditors and implement process improvements to adhere to reporting standards

Cloud & SaaS Cost Management

  • Partner with Engineering and DevOps teams to monitor cloud usage and optimize infrastructure spend.

  • Implement FinOps best practices to improve forecasting accuracy and cost accountability.

  • Evaluate and manage SaaS subscriptions, ensuring efficient license utilization and contract compliance.

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Support vendor evaluations, contract negotiations, and renewals.

  • Track vendor performance and ensure adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs).

  • Maintain accurate records of contracts, terms, and financial obligations.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify process gaps and implement improvements to increase financial efficiency and accuracy.

  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, accounting standards, and audit requirements.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align financial processes with business objectives.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 1-2 years of experience in financial operations, FinOps, or similar roles.

  • Strong understanding of cloud cost management (AWS, GCP, Azure) and SaaS financial tracking.

  • Excellent analytical and Excel/Google Sheets skills; experience with BI or financial tools a plus (e.g., Tableau, Looker, NetSuite).

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.

  • Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • FinOps certification or training (e.g., FinOps Foundation Practitioner).

  • Experience working in a SaaS, fintech, or technology-driven environment.

  • Familiarity with cost allocation methodologies and multi-cloud strategies.

Pay range is $80,000 - $90,000. Salary ranges are based on role, level, and location. The range shown reflects the target minimum and maximum for the role across all U.S. locations. Actual pay is determined by location, skills, and relevant experience.
