Position Summary 

Effectual is seeking a detail-oriented FinOps Analyst to support a civilian government customer. In this role, you will gather and analyze large cloud financial datasets, build cost forecasting models, and deliver actionable insights to optimize cloud resource utilization across a multi-cloud environment. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in cloud financial data analysis, proficiency in tools such as Python, SQL, and BI platforms, and holds a FinOps Certified Professional or Practitioner credential along with an AWS Cloud Practitioner certification. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Gather, clean, and study data sets to help solve problems and support stakeholder decision-making 
  • Conduct data analytics projects to provide information and insights for solution development 
  • Implement data standards and deploy automation tools to extract, synthesize, and validate data from multiple sources; transform data into usable metrics 
  • Construct data sets, monitor data quality, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues to ensure data integrity 
  • Utilize scripting and querying tools (Python, R, SQL), data visualization/BI tools, statistical methods, and data modeling to produce reports, data files, and dashboards 
  • Create cloud financial models that accurately forecast cloud costs and assess the impact to contract operations 
  • Analyze cloud spending patterns and provide insights to optimize cloud resource utilization 
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting related to cloud costs 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (highly desirable); substitution of 6 years of on-the-job experience or at least one Professional Level Certification accepted in lieu of degree 
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (6 years without a Bachelor’s degree) in tools and techniques for analyzing large datasets, specifically cloud financial data 
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner certification required 
  • Experience creating cloud financial models that accurately forecast cloud costs and assess the impact to contract operations 
  • Experience with major cloud providers including Amazon, Microsoft, and Google 
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting related to cloud costs 
  • Experience analyzing spending patterns and providing insights to optimize cloud resource utilization 
  • FinOps Certified Professional or FinOps Certified Practitioner (Required) 

 

Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience 

  • AWS, Microsoft and Google certifications preferred
