About the VP of Finance at Headspace:

We are searching for a seasoned finance leader to join Headspace to run the day to day operations of our finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this executive will manage both the Accounting team and the Financial Planning & Analysis team, and will partner closely with the CFO on overall financial strategy as it pertains to long term planning and budgeting, capital requirements, business insights, risk, reporting, and controls. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader and manager, have strong domain expertise across accounting and FP&A, and be a great collaborator among key stakeholders across the organization.

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

  • Manage the FP&A team (4 people) and the Accounting team (5 people)
  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting (including annual audits)
  • Drive management reporting and deliver insights to key business partners on financial / funnel performance
  • Build thoughtful, detailed annual operating plans (budgets) congruent with longer term planning (3 year scenarios), and maintain rolling “six quarters forward” forecasts
  • Develop and implement effective strategies (revenue optimization or cost containment) to improve financial performance across all facets of the business
  • Work with the CFO to determine optimal capital strategy, and assist with fundraising and investor relations
  • Manage treasury to ensure ample liquidity, mitigate foreign exchange risks, and maximize yield on cash
  • Optimize global tax structure and ensure compliance with all accounting / tax / regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a thought partner to cross functional constituents around risk / reward of investments, initiatives, campaigns, etc
  • Assist the CFO in managing relationships and communication with the board of directors, investors, bankers, and key commercial partners and vendors

What you’ve accomplished:

  • At least 10+ years of finance experience, preferably in a senior operating role within a startup
  • Experience participating in a cross-functional leadership team or operating committee is preferred
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP (CPA, CFA and/or MBA is preferred, but not mandatory)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, and extensive experience with financial planning, forecasting, modeling, and data analysis
  • Experience managing teams of 10+, ensuring you set clear goals and expectations, track progress against established goals, provide feedback and updates, and communicate and address issues promptly. 
  • Confident communication skills, with experience presenting to boards, potential investors / lenders, bankers, and partners.
  • Expertise with relevant systems and tools (Excel, Tableau, ERP tools like Netsuite, EPM tools like Adaptive Insights)

We're located in the heart of Santa Monica on Michigan + Cloverfield, just off the 10 freeway. Bergamont train station is right behind our office.
