About the opportunity
The Tax Analyst will play a key role on our growing Finance & Accounting team. In this role, you will ensure all US tax filings are completed on time and accurately in an organized manner, working closely with driven, accomplished, and intelligent people to create tax process efficiency. You will own a variety of your own projects from payroll tax compliance to departmental inquiries from both internal and external partners. This role will require a go-getter, who is able to proactively keep up to date on tax legislative developments and their impact on Ontra and perform ad hoc analyses and other special projects.

The Tax Analyst will report directly to the Tax & Accounting Manager. This role will be fully remote, and location is flexible.*
What you’ll do
- Work with the Tax & Accounting Manager and external advisors to ensure the timely and accurate filing of US Federal and State partnership tax returns, and international tax filings in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
- Support the collection, organization, and analysis of tax preparation data to assist third-party firms in preparing domestic and international tax forms. Review and prepare tax forms to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with domestic and foreign tax law.
- Address tax department inquiries from internal and external partners.
- Own payroll tax compliance including tracking employee locations, registering for payroll taxes, and ensuring all payroll taxes are filed by our external HRIS system.
- Prepare annual US 1099-NECs and other international independent contractor tax forms.
- Ensure monthly/quarterly VAT/GST/Sale tax returns are prepared on time. Maintain sales tax payable account reconciliations and prepare monthly/quarterly journal entry clearings.
- Assist with transfer pricing documentation and compliance.
- Perform ad hoc tax analyses, analytical support, and other special projects as needed.
- Assist with tax related audits and notices issued by the tax authorities.
- Proactively keep up to date on direct and indirect tax legislative developments and analyze impact to the company.
What you’ll bring
- Experience: 2+ years of experience working at a Big 4 firm or in a partnership tax compliance function for both federal and at least 5 states.
- Superior attention to detail: willing to put in the time and effort to avoid errors and consistently deliver polished work product.
- Communication: skilled in communicating clearly, both internally and externally, in a variety of formats (written and verbal).
- Project management skills: an ability to collaborate, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline driven dynamic environment.
- Excel: comfortable working with Excel to create reports and manipulate data.
- Proactive: must be a self-motivator and proactively try to solve problems and understand existing and new tax legislation.
- CPA preferred.
