You’ll Report To: Chief Accounting Officer

A typical day as a Sr. Manager of Financial Reporting might include:

  •  SEC Financial Reporting
    • Help prepare, analyze, review, and present all financial reports to management (income statements, balance sheet analyses)
    • Prepare filings with the SEC (10-Q, 10-K 8-K)
    • Review all board presentations and earnings releases for accuracy
    • Suggest any changes to the financial reporting process
  • General Ledger (G/L) Accounting
    • Help out in month-end/quarter-end/year-end General Ledger (G/L) closings for the company within the company’s ERP system
  • Technical Accounting
    • Ensure that all accounting policies and practices adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Keep abreast of all current Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and SEC developments
    • Explain the impact of these changes to all affected departments
  • Compliance
    • Support all annual audits by external auditors, including providing financial statements and audit schedules
    • Help the Corporate Controller Chief Accounting Officer in maintaining internal controls throughout the company via accurate adherence to documented procedures
  • Other duties
    • Liaise with FP&A professionals to suggest improvement in forecasting and other financial reporting initiatives
    • Assist in budgeting and forecasting tasks
    • Perform other ad hoc finance and accounting duties as needed

You’ll be successful if you are a self-starter who takes ownership of your processes and is effective in building relationships based on respect and trust with senior management across Leaf Group.


What You Have:

  •  Undergraduate degree with emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or an equivalent major
  • CPA
  • At least eight (8) years of work experience in accounting
  • At least three (3) years of work experience at a Big 4 Accounting Firm
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Technical Skills
    • Expert Level experience in an ERP program such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards
    • Expert-Level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, IF Formulas)
    • Extraordinary understanding of GAAP
  • Interpersonal
    • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task efficiently
    • Detail oriented, with high level of ethics and integrity
    • Must be willing to develop and grow with the company and have the desire to take on more responsibility
    • Superior oral and written communications skills
    • Exhibit leadership and decision making abilities
  • Preferred Technical Skills
    • Current and/or previous working proficiency with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
    • Oracle ERP experience
  • Proactive
  • Adept at giving constructive feedback and providing solutions
