Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Role Overview
InStride is looking for a Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to help build out a new, high-performing FP&A practice (processes, software tools, etc.) that can scale with our emerging, high growth company. This role will perform analysis and prepare reports to help support the annual budget process, support the company’s financial and operational close and reporting processes, and assist in putting together the company’s long-range financial forecast. The ideal candidate will be able to partner with leaders and team members across the organization to provide financial / analytical support and to influence key decisions that enable the company to achieve its core mission and maximize enterprise value. InStride is looking for a dynamic candidate who can objectively research and analyze complex issues and present recommendations in a clear and simple way to elicit support and buy-in from other team members.
This position will report to the Director, Strategy & FP&A
Responsibilities
- Assist in updating the company’s long-range financial forecast model for specific functional areas (with support from the Director, Strategy & FP&A) and partner with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure that the modeling assumptions are reasonable and current
- Help drive the annual budgeting process for specific functional areas
- Assist in the creation, consolidation and distribution of the company’s monthly financial and operational reports and KPIs to both internal and external stakeholders (leadership, board of directors, partners, etc.)
- Build and maintain strong, cross-functional relationships across the business and be the go-to person for analytical support for assigned functional teams
- Support the monthly financial close process and the annual financial audit as required
- Perform analysis and create slides for executive, board of director, or other stakeholder presentations
- Provide analytical / decision support (ROI, NPV, benchmarking, etc.) on key company decisions (partnerships, key customer contracts, M&A activities, etc.)
- Perform detailed budget vs. actual variance reports to each functional leader within the organization and assist in presenting/distributing
- Identify financial trends and proactively offer solutions to mitigate negative trends and (or) accelerate positive ones
- Help research, select, implement, and refine processes and systems to optimize the efficiency and performance of the FP&A team
- Develop a deep understanding of the company’s markets, customers, and products in order to provide more meaningful financial and analytical support to the organization
- Perform ad hoc research, analysis, and reporting as required
Ideal Profile
- 4+ years of finance experience, preferably in a high-growth technology company or consulting firm
- Prior experience working for a private-equity backed company is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or a similar discipline
- Consistent track record of achievement and delivering impactful results
- Strong background in financial analysis (ROI, NPV, scenario modeling, etc.) with strong problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to distill complex issues into simple, structured frameworks that can be clearly communicated to key leaders and stakeholders inside and outside of the company
- Experience successfully partnering with leaders across multiple functions (sales, marketing, R&D, operations, etc.)
- An innate curiosity and drive to thoroughly research and analyze complex issues and to come forward with clear and simple recommendations for moving forward
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate successfully with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, continuously changing environment
- Demonstrated ability to identify and to aggressively solve problems regardless of the nature of the issue or the work required to get the job done
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial/accounting principles
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-centric culture
- Experience working in key financial and operational systems to help streamline and automate the finance function (ERP, FP&A, Analytics, CRM, etc.)
- Prior experience with NetSuite and Salesforce.com is a plus
