Join a soon-to-be public entity to perform daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting and financial reporting functions in support of Heliogen’s mission while maintaining a strong focus on personal and professional development in the areas of accounting, financial reporting and internal controls.

Responsibilities:

The Lead Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, and quarterly reporting as follows:

• Perform analysis and record necessary journal entries in assigned areas under the direction of the Chief Accounting Officer and other members of the accounting management team
• Participate in and/or lead monthly accounting activities related to project revenue accounting, including determining revenue recognition under percentage-of-completion method
• Work independently with cross-functional stakeholders on core responsibilities and special projects
• Act in a key role for the preparation and delivery of monthly and quarterly financial statements

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately
• Proactively exhibit accountability for his/her areas of responsibility and pursues process improvement
• Support the quarterly and annual audit processes, including working directly with internal and external auditors
• Provide informal guidance to other accounting staff in support of daily, monthly or quarterly tasks

Additionally, the Lead Accountant will support other key processes within the Finance organization as follows:

• Perform technical accounting analysis on complex transactions, such as leases, revenue recognition, share-based compensation and other areas as requested by the Chief Accounting Officer and other members of the accounting management team
• Assist the Chief Accounting Officer in the management of tax-related items, as necessary to support the Company’s outsourced tax operations

What's Essential:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 6-8 years of relevant accounting experience
• Proficient Excel skills
• Detailed knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX
• Experience in the development and maintenance of new or existing accounting processes
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Driven, efficient, and self-motivated with the demonstrated ability to lead and successfully complete cross-functional activities on his/her own
• Strong organization and communication skills

What's Desirable:

• Master’s degree in Accounting
• CPA, or in process of obtaining certification
• Significant preference will be given to project revenue accounting experience using the percentage-of-completion method
• Working knowledge of relevant software applications including but not limited to QuickBooks Online and Oracle Cloud
• Public company accounting experience with preference given to experience with SOX compliance and different types of public filings with the SEC, including experience with Workiva
