Core Responsibilities:

• Maintain the fixed asset register
  1. Ensure proper recording of fixed asset purchases and disposals
  2. Perform calculation of depreciation and record in the general ledger
  3. Record period end journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations
  4. Reconcile the fixed asset register to the general ledger 

• Responsible for lease accounting and administration
  1. Set up and maintain all deferred rent schedules for leases
  2. Track lease possession dates for timely GAAP rent recognition
  3. Set up and maintain amortization schedules of lease acquisition costs
  4. Record appropriate journal entries to ensure agreement with landlord statements and deferred rent schedules 

• Responsible for continuous process improvement and information reporting to cross functional partners
• Create and maintain procedural documentation and training materials
• Assist in the monthly close process, performing all rent and fixed asset related tasks and reconciliations
• Assist with ad-hoc analysis and periodic reporting

 Qualifications and Experience: 

• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency with Excel and its functions
• Ability to pick up computer programs quickly
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Works well with a team and across departments/functions
• Willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done in a deadline driven profession
• 4-6 years of accounting experience, preferably with restaurant or other multi-unit industries
• Previous experience with fixed asset and lease accounting including reconciliations
• Previous experience successfully handling multiple projects simultaneously
• Prior experience with full ERP accounting system and a focus on general ledger accounting a plus
