WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The Trade Desk (“TTD”) is seeking a Revenue Associate that will collaborate with other individuals in the Revenue Department to oversee the order to cash and cost of revenue process. Reporting to the Revenue Manager, the Revenue Associate will learn the TTD platform in terms of applying accrual and revenue recognition principles, to ensure efficiency and accuracy of transactional processing from a technical accounting and operational perspective. 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Gain an understanding of the TTD platform and how it affects the related revenue processes
  • Assist in establishing policies and systems to facilitate efficient and accurate accounting of the Cost of Sales aspects of net revenue
  • Prepare the data accrual calculation monthly; prepare and analyze the Cost of Revenue workbooks that support the accrual levels for media and data products
  • Assist in review of vendor contracts and dealings with third party suppliers that become part of the net revenue accounting process and perform analysis as needed
  • Work cross functionally with the Inventory and Data Partnerships business teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of cost of revenue accruals
  • Responsible for month end revenue close including journal entries and account reconciliations related to cost of sales vendor accruals and related expenses
  • Work with external auditors to ensure cost of sales vendor accruals are consistent with GAAP and provide related support
  • Support external SEC reporting and SOX processes as needed

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • A BA degree with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting; preferred
  • 1-2+ years of experience in finance or Big 4 public accounting
  • Basic understanding of accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and financial principles
  • Outstanding communication skills – including written and verbal communications, interpersonal, analytical, negotiating and problem-solving skills; ability to work cross functionally
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines
  • Ability to juggle multiple high priorities in a fast-paced environment and have a willingness to learn
  • Proficient in the use of Excel and spreadsheet applications
  • Familiarity with revenue accounting/reporting systems preferred
