Swell is a place where investing meets technology, where business meets idealism. Impact investing expertise is an integral part of Swell’s value proposition. The impact team conducts quantitative and qualitative research to ensure the integrity of the Swell portfolios.
Who we are looking for:
We are searching for someone who has experience using financial and ESG data to make investment decisions to join Swell’s portfolio team, with a focus on fixed income products and evaluations.
As part of the portfolio team the Impact Research Analyst will support the firm’s impact goals by conducting research on public and private equity, and fixed income securities. We are looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who possesses a positive, “can do” attitude, works effectively as a team member in a collaborative environment, and has a keen interest in leveraging qualitative and quantitative data to make investment decisions.
Once here you will:

  • Evaluate industries and individual companies on both quantitative financial and qualitative ESG/Impact performance.
  • Advise on the creation and evolution of portfolios with the portfolio team.
  • Closely monitor trends in the impact investing space, digesting information and data from a variety of sources and providing highlights to Swell’s team.
  • Create original content related to Swell’s impact themes and portfolio holdings for publication on Swell’s platform.
  • Help Swell build a high-quality network of sustainable, responsible and impact investing (SRI) advocates including investors, SRI researchers, journalists, NGOs and other stakeholders.
  • Work with a broader team to distill complicated financial language into simple, consumer-facing concepts.
  • Help represent Swell at conferences, trade shows, and public speaking events.


Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in equity and/or fixed income research with an impact and/or ESG lens.
  • Excels in market research and is comfortable with technical and fundamental equity analysis.
  • Expertise in equity and fixed Income instruments, portfolio strategies and benchmarks is preferred.
  • Creative analytical skills and is capable of original thinking to synthesize potential investment theses and models.
  • Familiar with investment research tools such as Factset and Bloomberg
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate complex concepts to novice investors.
  • Experience with quantitative equity analysis.
  • Experience in a data-driven field with statistical modeling preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of capital markets and investment management.
  • Desire to apply advanced analytics within an investment context.
  • Team player who has the ability to work collaboratively with investment professionals and other qualitative/quantitative impact investing analysts and software development teams as well as marketing and product development.
  • Open and inquisitive mind willing to accept new ideas and challenge existing assumptions.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and proactive; able to take ownership of projects from start to finish and work in a fast-paced environment.
