WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR . . .
Versus Systems seeks a seasoned, hands-on leader to grow our Accounting department and support our rapid growth by providing a foundation with strong financial controls in complete adherence to US GAAP, and a solid understanding of the reporting requirements of a Nasdaq-traded company. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring accounting activities meet required SEC standards. A successful candidate will be able to collaborate cross-functionally and effectively communicate their financial vision.
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for oversight of accounting and reporting activities. They will be involved in supporting presentations to the Board of Directors as well as to the senior leadership team. You will lead all day-to-day accounting operations with functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax and payroll.
As an initial team of one employee and two contractors, there will be space to create processes, reporting structures, and assist with plotting our best path forward as we scale.

YOU WILL HAVE . . .
- 7+ years of experience with at least 3 Controller-related responsibilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with equally strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Superior attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
- Prior high-growth, fast paced start-up company experience
- Experience building processes, controls, systems and teams from scratch to support growth-stage companies
- Highly motivated and proactive with a strong degree of integrity
HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR DAY . . .
- Developing the company’s accounting infrastructure and processes
- Leading overall month-end close process
- Maintaining overall responsibility for the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Flow management, tax returns, options tracking, expense management, and other relevant processes
- Partnering closely with the Legal/Compliance team to ensure good standing with regulators
- Coordinating the annual audit with both the internal audit team and external auditors
- Building, leading, and managing an eventual team including accountant(s) and compliance professionals
