As Controller, you’ll be responsible for all of Lumi’s accounting operations including financial reporting, tax reporting, compliance, internal and external financials, audit matters, cash management, corporate tax matters, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. You’ll create and validate a system of controls to mitigate risks, enhance the accuracy of our reporting financial results, and ensure that our accounting procedures and reporting methods conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position reports into our CFO.

What you'll do

  • Oversee daily operations of the accounting function, including A/R, A/P, Billing, GL, and Revenue Recognition
  • Coordinate accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Research technical accounting issues, and drive updates related to new GAAP guidelines
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Select, implement, and maintain new accounting and budgeting systems, as necessary
  • Work with Finance team to provide inputs to financial models and analyses
  • Lead preparation and document gathering for corporate financial audit 
  • Oversee the cap table and associated valuation reporting and option expensing
  • Be the Lumi expert on all technical accounting matters
  • Identify and create infrastructure, policies, and controls to support Lumi as we scale

About You

  • A solid communicator who knows strong cross-functional relationships and effective communication is critical to the financial success of a company
  • A born problem-solver with a keen analytical eye, combined with the most impeccable business judgment, of course
  • A resourceful, action-oriented individual who possesses a proactive sense of urgency and who knows how to overcome obstacles to get things done

You have:

  • Ability to understand Lumi’s strategic direction and translate that to accounting and control implications, and be proactive in driving those changes
  • Proven experience working as a Controller
  • 10+ years of accounting experience in both public and private settings, with experience building and scaling a department
  • Prior Big 4 public accounting experience and experience managing an external audit process
  • Experience implementing new systems, processes, and control environments
  • Experience working for a high growth, early-stage company (preferred)
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance; Master’s Degree preferredCPA
