The Chief Accounting Officer will report directly to the company’s CFO; this individual will be a key member of the Finance leadership team. S/he will oversee all accounting functions, including general accounting, billing, A/R, A/P, financial reporting, the month-end close process, revenue recognition, cash management, payroll, stock administration, and tax. The CAO will be responsible for further developing and building out a world-class accounting team (currently around 20 professionals) and implementing systems and processes to continuously improve efficiency, cycle time and quality. Additionally, as a member of the Finance leadership team, the CAO will work with the company’s CFO, and SVP of FP&A to drive financial strategy and execution. This role is perfect for someone who is a Corporate Controller/ CAO currently and wants to make the next step in their career.

You’ll Report To: Chief Financial Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain corporate accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure conformance with US GAAP and other laws/regulations
  • Lead quarterly financial reporting - including drafting and reviewing SEC documents, ensuring quality, and administering strict timeline
  • Managing transaction accounting, SOX, the closing process, and other financial controls;
  • Ensure the appropriate accounting systems and processes are implemented and continuously improved to achieve greater efficiencies and accuracy in the level and timeliness of reporting
  • Manage relationship with external auditors and ensure delivery of all documentation required for annual audits
  • Implement best in class systems, policies, procedures for close process, financial reporting, SOX compliance and all accounting functions
  • Partner with business leads and FP&A team to understand and explain financial variances; support preparation of board materials
  • Lead the Tax function to ensure complete and accurate tax compliance and tax accounting in conjunction with third-party providers
  • Hire, manage and develop a world-class accounting team
  • Build relationships cross-functionally to foster collaboration both inside and outside of the Finance & Accounting teams

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced Accounting professional who has the following background:

  • Public accounting experience at Big Four or other, at increasing levels of seniority
  • CPA
  • Strong technical accounting backbone
  • Preferably accounting experience at a public company with demonstrated leadership in role
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Track record leading a team of professionals with a demonstrated ability to hire and retain senior employees
  • Strong project and process management skills with a passion and aptitude for process streamlining and improvement
  • Experience with system design and implementation as the business process owners
  • Uncompromising commitment to diligence, rigor and excellence
  • Experience working with boards and audit committees; a style or gravitas that enables open and transparent dialog with senior leadership
  • Firm, assertive and non-abrasive style that engenders collaboration and loyalty
  • Experience interacting with external constituents, such as auditors, tax accountants, customers, vendors, and others
  • High energy, can-do attitude. Resourceful
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Not afraid to wear multiple hats - no job being too small or too large
