We are looking for a skilled accounts payable clerk to be responsible for processing all invoices received for payment and for undertaking the payment of all creditors in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. The ideal individual will have experience running end to end A/P in a fast paced environment.

 

As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will ensure the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and employee expense reports to the correct general ledger account through the Accounts Payable system. You will also ensure the orderly maintenance of department files to facilitate accessibility by department personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Code invoices to appropriate GL accounts, departments, locations.
  • Vouch invoices, matching to PO’s/receipts.
  • Peer review of invoice batches for data entry accuracy.
  • Obtain appropriate invoice/check request approvals based on company guidelines and policies.
  • Follow up with internal approvers on due invoices as necessary.
  • Review and reconcile monthly vendor statements.
  • Research and resolve vendor statements discrepancies, correspondence.
  • Prepare weekly payment run previews for approval.
  • Prepare checks for mailing.
  • Execute systematic payment application for electronic payments.
  • Assist in maintaining online system for employee travel and expenses.
  • Assist AP Supervisor with research and special projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum 3 years of Accounts Payable experience
  • Advanced in MS-Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of general accrual accounting and payables cycle
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, reconciliation and overall troubleshooting skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Team player in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (primarily e-mail)
  • Great telephone / email etiquette
  • Ability work independently and prioritize to make deadlines
