Accounting Manager

We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic Accounting Manager to join our Accounting department! Reporting to the VP Controller, you will be responsible for day to day operations, some project-based and some habitual as we close our month, pay bills, etc., as well as management, training, and development of our accounting team.
You will assume ownership of a wide range of account reconciliations, financial closing activities, and other analysis to support and execute our financial close process. You will be the point person for the annual financial statement audit. The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow) and how they relate to one another.
You must have working knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Review monthly financial closing activities, procedures, journal entries and account reconciliations
- Manage and train accounting and accounts payable staff
- Collaborate cross departmentally to understand business activity and the potential financial statement impacts
- Review financial results vs expectations to accurately accrue missed expenses
- Lead the annual financial statement audit
- Create best practice procedures for accounting activities and recommend process improvements where they already exist
- Apply and document best practices within the financial organization and establish controls where necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA, non-practicing is OK
- 5+ years of experience in total, preferred mix of public and private, ecommerce, retail, or similar strongly preferred
- Experience with inventory accounting
- Ability to train and develop accounting and accounts payable personnel
- Advances knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and internal controls policies and procedures
