Job Summary

The Accounting Manager will perform a full-cycle month-end close and cash management reports for multiple Clients across various industries. 

The Accounting Manager will have direct ownership over the close processes and interact with the Client on a regular basis with oversight by a Client Lead.

A majority of this work can be done out of the comfort of your own home office.  Opportunities to go into the Client may be available to you and/or required from time-to-time.

Most processes are put in-place by the Client Lead and you will be brought-in to carry-out regular iterations of the processes put in-place.  Ongoing collaboration and recommendations for improvements are highly encouraged.

Additional projects will vary based on request of the Client Lead and your industry expertise.

 

Sample Responsibilities

Month-End Close

  • Reconcile sales and make adjustments as needed
  • Reconcile payment methods and make adjustments as needed
  • Prepare accrual schedules and make entries
  • Reconcile prepaid accounts and enter amortization entries
  • Update fixed asset schedule and enter depreciation entries
  • Calculate and accrue for bad debt
  • Inventory/COGS related entries and reconciliations depending on Client
  • Enter bank transactions and reconcile bank statements
  • Update rent schedules and record deferred rent
  • Update note schedules and accrue interest on notes
  • Draft financials: P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement
  • Investigate variances and make journal entry corrections as needed

Monthly Other

  • Calculate commissions and prepare reports
  • Calculate and file sales tax for varying states
  • Perform AP/AR Sub to GL reconciliations
  • System housekeeping- update the COAs, close the period, setup classes, etc.

Weekly

  • Review AP reports and recommend invoices to be prepared for payment
  • Prepare cash flow statement and communicate changes in cash

Daily

  • AP Oversight
  • AR Oversight
  • Make judgment calls for POs and other discrepancies
  • Enter and apply cash receipts, and make deposits

Periodic

  • Complete compliance filings such as licensing, sales tax, and Corporate insurance
  • Assist with the preparation of annual tax returns and audits
  • Manage 1099 filing

 

Requirements

  • 7+ years of General Ledger Accounting experience
  • Experience with a Big 4 preferred
  • Experience in a Retail environment is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, and/or Finance required
  • CPA and/or MBA is a plus
  • Experience in Quickbooks Online or a similar system required
  • Experience in an ERP system highly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • In the LA area and willing and able to be on-site at Clients as needed
  • Ability to work efficiently in a remote environment
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High comfort level in working with many different cloud-based technology tools
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and business acumen
