HKS is seeking a Finance Sector Manager to support our Place sector.
Responsible for operational and financial management and oversight of a sector, including promoting critical strategic initiatives, managing and monitoring financial performance, coordinating staffing and monitoring staff utilization, and assisting with the implementation of growth objectives. Responsible for high-impact decisions and recommendations to the Global Sector Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in strategic, Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), and financial planning for the sector and associated practices
  • Assists practices in their collaborative approach to marketplace strategy consistent with sector direction and priorities
  • Partners with global practices to evaluate performance and growth and evolve practices and respective offices in a manner which is consistent with HKS’s priorities, core values, and purpose
  • Partners with practices as a liaison between the Global Sector Director and staff, communicating firm strategic objectives and regional initiatives and priorities
  • Monitors staffing, utilization, and growth management across the sector, including recommending adjustments where necessary and reviewing all personnel changes in conjunction with Global Practice Director, Regional Directors, Office Directors and Practice Manager
  • Assists practices and offices with project staffing requests as needed; employs working knowledge of the staff utilization within the sector and general knowledge of the capabilities available in each office with active sector projects
  • Actively encourages opportunities to incorporate HKS best practices, sustainable design solutions, subject matter expertise and resources strategically and efficiently for clients, user, and community
  • Acts as a key liaison between sector-driven strategy and practice and regional execution plans
  • Partners with practice, studio, and office leadership to further the strategic goals of the firm, sector, and office
  • Emphasizes HKS strategic priorities and supports the firm’s principles of Design Excellence and Technical Excellence by helping project teams integrate those practices into projects
  • Operates with “ONE Firm” mindset, focuses on sector and operational variables within Practices and offices
  • Exercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Business, Finance or related field
  • Licensure or certification in chosen field preferred
  • Typically, 15+ years of experience in the AEC industry, including experience in a leadership role with demonstrated success in project work, project financial management, and talent/resource development
  • Expertise in the functionality of Vision preferred
  • Experience in MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Project, Expertise MS Excel, and Microsoft Teams preferred
  • Successful track record in directing and leading teams
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and developing/nurturing talent
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions
  • Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
  • Travel will be required

Base Salary Range: $168k - $220k annually – applies to Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, New York, and Washington D.C. locations only
