Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a Finance & Ops Lead to partner directly with our founders and leadership team on the most consequential financial and operational decisions facing the company. This is a senior, high-ownership role at the center of how we run and grow the business, spanning strategic finance, accounting and controllership, corporate development, business analytics, customer and commercial operations, and board and investor engagement. The ideal candidate has a strong finance background, can operate in ambiguity and is AI-native, using modern tooling to maximize their leverage.

Remote applicants will be considered but the ideal candidate is based in the SF Bay Area or willing to relocate (you will be working on-site at our Mountain View office a few days a week).

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Finance: Own the financial model, annual planning and budgeting, and capital strategy of the company. Build the forecasts, scenarios, and unit economics that shape how we invest and where we grow.

  • Financial Operations: Work closely with our external accounting firm on monthly close, audit, tax, and internal reporting, ensuring numbers are accurate and timely.

  • Capital & Investors: Partner with leadership on fundraising workstreams and board and investor communications, including board materials, investor updates, and the financial narrative around the business.

  • Corporate Development: Drive M&A, investment opportunities, strategic partnerships, and broader inorganic growth initiatives.

  • Commercial & Customer Operations: Partner with GTM and customer-facing teams on pricing, deal structuring, billing, revenue operations, and the systems that make the commercial engine run cleanly.

  • Business Analytics: Build the analytical foundation and frameworks used to run the business.

  • Special Projects: Take on the highest-leverage problems the company faces, from new market entry to building out new functions.

  • AI-Native Execution: Use AI across every workflow, from modeling, analysis, diligence and reporting to operations.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience across some combination of investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate development, hedge fund, or top-tier management consulting, ideally with operating experience inside a high-growth company

  • Strong accounting and controllership foundation. Comfortable being the internal owner of close, reporting, audit, and tax in partnership with an external accounting firm

  • Demonstrated excellence in transactional work, such as M&A, fundraising, or principal investing, including modeling, diligence, valuation, and deal execution

  • Sharp commercial instincts and the judgment to know what moves the business, not just what's interesting

  • Deep fluency with AI tools and a strong point of view on how to apply them across finance and operations

  • Comfort operating with significant autonomy and ambiguity, and the maturity to engage credibly with founders, executives, investors, and board members

  • Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Fluency in Excel/Sheets and PowerPoint/Slides at a level where modeling and slidebuilding are second nature

The base salary range for this full-time position is $220,000 - $285,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
