JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Manager is a key leader within the Finance team, responsible for driving financial modeling, strategic planning, and investment decision-making across the organization. This role owns the development of pro formas for new club investments, lease evaluations, and capital allocation strategy, while overseeing forecasting and performance analysis for a multi-unit, subscription-based business.
This individual will serve as a strategic partner to the VP of Finance & Strategy and cross-functional leaders, influencing growth strategy, optimizing financial performance, and enhancing visibility into key business drivers. The Finance Manager will also provide mentorship and direction to analysts and contribute to building scalable financial processes and tools.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own and lead the development of pro forma models for new club openings, relocations, and major capital investments
  • Oversee lease economics and site selection analyses, including NPV, IRR, payback, and sensitivity modeling
  • Lead subscription-based revenue modeling, including cohort behavior (EFT, PIF, promotions, attrition), and provide strategic insights to optimize performance
  • Partner with Real Estate, Operations, and Executive Leadership to evaluate, prioritize, and execute investment strategies
  • Lead the planning process, including AOP, quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning (LRP)
  • Deliver executive-level insights, presentations, and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Drive the development of scalable, automated financial models and reporting tools to improve visibility and decision-making
  • Ensure financial rigor through strong modeling standards, assumptions validation, and data integrity
  • Lead and support strategic initiatives, including pricing strategy, product expansion, and operational optimization
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts, providing feedback and fostering development
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced expertise in financial modeling, including pro formas, scenario analysis, and investment modeling
  • Strong experience in multi-unit, service-based, or subscription-driven businesses
  • Advanced Excel skills (complex models, dynamic forecasting, scenario modeling)
  • Proven ability to translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for executive stakeholders
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to influence strategic decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, prioritize competing initiatives, and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience working with senior leadership
 
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning (Strongly Preferred)
  • Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence tools (Strongly Preferred)
  • Experience with Mekko Graphics or similar executive visualization tools
  • Background in fitness, retail, or multi-location operations
  • Prior experience mentoring or leading junior team members
 
Physical Demands/ Environmental Conditions
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
 
Travel Requirement
  • Limited travel; occasional club visits and periodic trips to headquarters in Carlsbad, CA
    o Travel to clubs is typically less than once per month
    o Travel to headquarters is generally less than four times per year
