As Finance Manager – Payments Business Partner, you will be the embedded business leader for the Payments business. Equal parts finance leader, data analyst, and embedded payments subject-matter expert. In the role you will translate complex payment flows and datasets into clear insights and actions that improve margin, increase attach/activation, strengthen retention, and sharpen pricing/packaging discipline.
In this role, you will partner closely with Payments leadership, Enterprise BI, FP&A, Accounting, Product, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Risk/Compliance. You will drive actionable intelligence for decision-makers, scalable Reporting and KPIs, rigorous business cadence, and strategic modeling—ensuring Nextech can operate payments like a world-class fintech platform inside a vertical SaaS business.

Essential Functions
- Business Partnering & Decision Support:
- Serve as the primary finance point of contact for the payments business, including Stripe-enabled operations, supporting both day-to-day and strategic planning.
- Translate complex business questions into analytical frameworks and deliver clear, actionable recommendations.
- Elevate financial and metric fluency across Payments, Product, and GTM leaders by coaching stakeholders on payment economics, fee drivers, conversion mechanics, and trade-offs.
- Partner with FP&A and Accounting to align forecasts, variance analysis, and executive-level reporting.
- Revenue & Payment Economics:
- Analyze payment flows, transaction volumes, Stripe fee structures, and cost-to-serve dynamics; identify opportunities to improve unit economics.
- Evolve profitability models across key dimensions (e.g., practice cohort, segment, product bundle/SKU, channel, payment method, card-present/card-not-present mix).
- Monitor recurring and explain recurring revenue streams (ARR/MRR), churn, retention, and upsell performance within payment-enabled products.
- Partner with Sales and Customer Success to ensure pricing discipline, discount guardrails, and healthy pipeline economics.
- Build and maintain cohort analyses (activation ramp, volume maturity curves, retention/churn, expansion) to inform growth targets and GTM strategies.
- Pricing & Strategic Initiatives:
- Support pricing and monetization strategies for payment-related products and services, including post-launch performance reviews.
- Develop SKU-level profitability analysis to identify underperforming offerings and margin improvement opportunities.
- Develop pricing frameworks for new payment features, including tiered pricing, bundling, and value-based models. Partner with Sales and GTM teams to implement and monitor adherence.
- Collaborate with Product and Sales to rationalize SKU portfolios and optimize packaging for customer segments.
- Monitor discounting and price realization trends; implement guardrails to protect margin integrity.
- Build scenario models for strategic decisions such as payment partnerships, new product launches, and portfolio changes.
- Data & BI Collaboration:
- Own the Payments KPI architecture and reporting roadmap—ensuring metric definitions, data lineage, and governance that support a trusted “single source of truth.”
- Partner with Enterprise BI to co-create datasets and dashboards for payment KPIs, including transaction success rates, Stripe fee impact, churn, cohort performance, and customer health.
- Develop dashboards tracking volume, SKU adoption, revenue contribution, and profitability by segment.
- Drive a rigorous operating cadence for Payments performance (weekly insights, monthly business reviews, QBR support), surfacing leading indicators, root-cause analysis, and clear actions.
- Cross-Functional Leadership and Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with Product and Product Marketing to quantify roadmap ROI, support business cases, and translate field/customer feedback into measurable economic implications.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Risk to ensure reporting supports required controls and that commercial decisions reflect regulatory and operating risk realities.
- Support executive and board-ready materials with high clarity, strong narrative structure, and defensible numbers.
Minimum Requirements
- 5–8+ years of experience in finance, analytics, strategy, or data-driven business partnering roles, preferably within SaaS, fintech, payments, or a hybrid SaaS + payments model.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders through insight, structured thinking, and executive-ready communication—driving measurable operational and/or commercial outcomes.
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and unit economics (including pricing, margin, and contribution analysis).
- Experience with payment processing platforms (Stripe preferred) and SaaS recurring revenue models.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, SQL, etc.).
- Ability to define metrics and partner with analytics teams to build dashboards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or relevant graduate degree (e.g., Analytics, Data Science, Economics, or Finance).
- Prior experience supporting a payments platform or embedded payments business; familiarity with Stripe and its reporting/fee constructs strongly preferred.
- Experience in vertical SaaS (healthcare preferred) and understanding of healthcare payment workflows and buying centers (self-pay vs insurance-based dynamics).
- Experience operating in private equity–backed environments and supporting investor-grade reporting, planning, and cadence.
- Familiarity with relevant systems: NetSuite, Salesforce, data warehouses/lakes, and planning tools (Adaptive, Planful, Anaplan, Pigment) and/or modern analytics stacks.
