Finance Lead/Controller

Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Finance Lead Controller to lead our financial planning, analysis, and reporting efforts. As a Finance Lead Controller, you'll serve as a strategic partner to our leadership team, providing financial insights and guidance to inform business decisions. You'll oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, ensuring our financial operations are accurate, efficient, and scalable. Your expertise will help us navigate the complexities of financial planning and analysis in a rapidly growing AI startup.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning and Analysis:

    • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast revenue, expenses, and cash flow.

    • Analyze financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for growth.

    • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership to inform business decisions.

  2. Financial Reporting and Compliance:

    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory requirements.

    • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes.

  3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Develop and manage financial budgets and forecasts, aligning with company goals and objectives.

    • Monitor and report on budget variances, providing recommendations for corrective actions.

  4. Financial Operations and Process Improvement:

    • Establish and maintain financial processes, systems, and controls to ensure efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.

    • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to optimize financial operations.

  5. Leadership and Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, product, and engineering, to drive business growth and financial performance.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA or CPA a plus.

  2. Experience: 5+ years of experience in finance, preferably in a leadership role, with a focus on financial planning, analysis, and reporting.

  3. Industry: Experience working in the AI, tech, or software industry is highly desirable.

  4. Start-up Experience: Previous experience working in a start-up environment, preferably in a similar stage (Series A).

  5. Skills:

    • Financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis.

    • Financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.

    • Leadership and team management.

    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

    • Proficiency in financial systems, such as ERP, accounting software, and FP&A tools (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Insights).

  6. Technical Skills:

    • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.

    • Experience with cloud-based financial systems and tools.
