About the role

We are looking for a Finance Data Analyst to join our growing Finance team at Circle. The Finance team leverages operational and financial data to shape the strategy and maximize the growth and profitability of the business.

This is a hybrid Finance & Data role reporting to the FP&A lead. As Circle scales to $100M+ ARR, we’re investing in a dedicated bridge between Finance and Data to unify our financial data stack and enable faster, more automated decision-making. Initially, we expect this role to be more heavily weighted to data modeling and engineering (70%) than analysis (30%), but as we build out the Finance data stack, we expect the role to transition to 50% supporting analysis, forecasting, and decision-making.

This role will be instrumental in transforming and modeling our finance data warehouse which will support forecasting and budgeting, strategic decision support, and AI initiatives.

This is an opportunity to work in a high-impact role, blending technical skills with business acumen in a fast-growing SaaS business.

What you’ll be doing
  • Creating SQL pipelines to transform and model data in preparation for analysis and reporting
  • Building and maintaining precise, auditable financial datasets such as ARR, Customer Profitability, etc.
  • Building automated dashboards and reports
  • Supporting the Finance & Ops teams with actionable analysis to guide decision making
  • Developing data apps to automate and augment processes like Sales Compensation, Salary Benchmarking, and Comparable Company Analysis
  • Implementing AI-powered workflows to automate financial reporting and analysis
What you’ll need to be successful
  • Strong alignment with our values. Find our values on our career page if you haven’t read up on them yet.
  • You are proficient in English (spoken, written, and reading) at a CEFR Level C2 / ILR Level 5.
  • Coachable, honest, accountable, and a self-starter.
  • Insatiable curiosity with a desire to leverage data to better understand how the business operates.
  • Strong business acumen with a proven ability to think strategically and analytically.
  • Advanced SQL and data skills (CTEs, window functions, data modeling, etc.)
  • Ability to build production-grade data transformation pipelines (using tools like dbt or SQLMesh)
  • 2-5 years of experience in data, statistics, or a related analytical field.
  • Extensive experience working with BI tools such as Hex (what we use), Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience with Python (or a willingness to learn).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with different teams.
Bonus points
  • Experience in a high-growth tech environment (SaaS, Marketplace, Fintech, etc.)
  • Experience developing ML pipelines for predictive analytics (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, etc.)
  • Experience implementing AI-powered tools and workflows to automate reporting and analysis
  • Experience in FP&A or Strategic Finance
$100,000 - $140,000 USD per year

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
