How You Will Contribute:

  • Deploy network solutions based on engineering designs to meet customer requirements and ensure successful project delivery.

  • Lead the turn-up, commissioning, and testing of Ciena product lines, including OME6500, Waveservers, 6500 OLS, and Reconfigurable Line Systems, in greenfield and in-service environments for submarine and terrestrial DWDM projects.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues during deployments and upgrades, ensuring network stability and performance.

  • Implement complex upgrades, including channel additions, node insertions, traffic migrations, and hardware/software updates, while minimizing service impacts.

  • Provide on-site technical leadership during deployments and create as-built documentation for customer handoff.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, customers, and service partners to address field issues, improve processes, and deliver outstanding results.
     

The Must Haves:

  • A technical degree or equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of telecommunications industry experience.

  • 8+ years in a technical lead role for medium to large-scale deployments.

  • Hands-on experience with subsea network deployments and understanding of OLS design and performance parameters.

  • Expertise in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting DWDM optical networks, including greenfield and upgrade projects.

  • Proficiency in testing tools such as OSA, SDH Analyzer, and Ethernet testers.

  • Ability to create and execute complex MOPs and understand network design and handover documentation.
     

The Assets:

  • Subsea deployment experience is a strong advantage.

  • On-field experience and familiarity with Ciena’s products are definite pluses.

  • Strong communication, decision-making, and multitasking skills with a proactive and self-driven approach.

  • History of working in a matrix management environment and collaborating with diverse teams.

Pay Range:
 

The annual pay range for this position in the USA is $79900 - $127700 USD

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is $72400 - $115600 CDN

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
