Job Description

Summary

Axis, proudly recognized as one of Canada’s Best Great Places to Work, is looking for a highly motivated and results-driven candidate to fill an opening in our Professional Services Group department as a Field Sales Engineer, Alberta & Prairies. This role assists Sales with technical solutions support for pre-sales opportunities across the entire portfolio of Axis products. The services include subject matter expertise, advising, implementing, educating and designing solutions using our hardware and software portfolio.

Ideal candidates must reside in Alberta (Calgary or Edmonton). Regular travel to assist in Saskatchewan and Manitoba is a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sales engineering and support

  • Prepare technical sales materials

  • Develop system design recommendations

  • Present demos and training seminars on-site and through webinars

  • Coordinate on-site visits, surveys, proof of concept and trial installations

  • Provide in-depth on-site troubleshooting and solutions

  • Work cohesively with Regional Sales Managers and sales support

  • Act as a backup to other Axis Field Sales Engineers as needed

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Travel within assigned region up to 50% of time

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physical security and IT markets

  • Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, transport protocols, switches, infrastructure, troubleshooting, etc.)

  • Mature, professional verbal and listening skills

  • Proven reputation of positive customer interaction

  • Strong technical writing, public speaking, and presentation skills

  • Solid technical writing skills especially white paper, manuals, and instructions

  • Design documentation skills of video, audio, and network topologies

  • Resourceful and flexible

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree or post-secondary diploma in information technology (IT), networking, computer science, or security and information risk management

  • 3+ years’ industry experience in customer facing roles related to systems design, engineering, project management, integration, and/or development.

  • Ability to climb and stand on ladders or lifts for extended period of time.

  • Access to a vehicle for occasional site visits, meetings outside the office.
