At Kargo, our mission is to build a connective tissue between the physical world of freight and the digital ecosystem used to manage it. We believe that advancements in smart infrastructure are critical to enabling a safer and more efficient future for logistics.  Our loading dock sensor platform verifies all incoming and outgoing freight, aggregating data that enables shippers and carriers to efficiently manage dock operations, switch out suppliers and understand material flow in real time.

We care deeply about delivering the best solutions for our customers. As a member of the Kargo team, you will have the opportunity to develop and deploy tomorrow’s hardware & software solutions and help revolutionize logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate installations, upgrades, and service visits across customer sites.
  • Lead deployments of Kargo’s hardware systems, working side-by-side with field technicians, contractors, and customer personnel.
  • Review site surveys, evaluate mounting locations, identify power/network constraints, and document install requirements.
  • Serve as the first technical responder for in-field issues, escalating to Hardware, Product, or Software teams as needed.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, optical, or network-related problems with devices and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain and improve field reliability by identifying recurring issues and driving root-cause analyses.
  • Collaborate with Sales, and Executive teams on timelines, readiness, and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate with customers remotely and on-site to plan installation windows, schedule maintenance visits, and communicate status updates.
  • Provide clear technical explanations, constraints, and requirements to customer facilities teams and IT organizations.
  • Maintain detailed installation documentation, troubleshooting guides, and field playbooks.
  • Track deployments, assets, issues, and resolutions using Jira (or similar tools).
  • Continuously improve installation workflows, field diagnostics, and operational processes.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours (night shifts, weekends, holidays) when customer access or operational constraints require it.
  • Comfort working in industrial environments (warehouses, docks, yards, cold storage, etc).

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering, robotics, computer science, etc).
  • 5+ years of experience supporting, deploying, or maintaining industrial equipment, robotics systems, vehicles, automation hardware, or similar.
  • Experience tracking many different projects, assets, and issues at the same time.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills for coordinating with contractors and communicating with customers.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and optical systems (experience in all three is preferred).
  • Proficiency using command-line tools (Linux CLI, PowerShell, SSH, etc).
  • Experience working in warehouse, factory, or industrial environments.
  • Experience deploying networked IoT or computer vision systems in the field preferred.
  • Experience with Jira or similar tools for tracking assets, issues, and installations preferred.
  • Comfort working in early-stage startup environments with evolving tools and processes preferred.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
