Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Field Marketing Events Manager to manage our newly established field marketing events portfolio. In this role, you'll bring Square's field marketing events strategy to life. You'll work with our Experiential team to oversee the planning, management, and execution of the entire event calendar. The work will be primarily focused on the Food & Beverage (F&B) industry and establish foundational tools for future expansion of partner event marketing programs across other high-growth verticals.
You'll report directly into the Head of Experiential Marketing. You'll work closely with stakeholders across Partnerships, Product Marketing, Sales, and Analytics, as well as with our external agency partner. You have extensive experience in planning and executing in-person field events, managing multiple concurrent projects, and communicating effectively with cross-functional partners and stakeholders. You will drive full-cycle event strategy and execution autonomously to generate leads and pipeline value for Square.
You Will

  • End-to-End Event Execution: Lead full end-to-end event management including strategy, execution, measurement, and logistics, including budget and calendar management.
  • Event Playbook Guidance & Quality Assurance: Deliver training, guidance, and ongoing support to internal teams and external partners. Lead post-event reviews, including audits and feedback sessions, to uphold quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Event Kit Management: Design and manage a program event kit that provides tools to streamline execution, including booth materials, detailed checklists, technology requirements, booth layout, set up instructions, and collateral.
  • Vendor Management & Fulfillment Strategy: Hire, and manage a fulfillment vendor to streamline logistics and event kit fulfillment. Partner closely with the vendor to optimize program efficiency, maintain brand standards, manage shipping logistics, and ensure on-time delivery of event kits and collateral.
  • Event Performance Measurement & Reporting: Collaborate with the GTM Analytics team to measure and optimize event performance. Track key metrics, including MQLs, SALs, and pipeline. Regularly report outcomes and insights and refine event strategies and tactics to enhance overall performance.
  • High-Volume Event Management: Manage a calendar of 10-15 events per month. Balance multiple, overlapping projects by prioritizing tasks, coordinating logistics, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with teams across Partnerships, Product Marketing, and Sales to ensure event strategies align with broader company initiatives and drive shared objectives.
  • Partner Relationships & Management: Build relationships with key partners. Engage with partners at events to represent Square and identify new event opportunities to enhance joint visibility and impact.

You Have

  • 5+ years of professional marketing experience, with a focus on B2B field marketing and event management
  • Experience building and scaling field marketing programs, including foundational program tools, and vendor partnerships
  • Project management; can manage complex event logistics
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time within the US

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
