We are currently hiring an Extrusion Engineer to support our US operations, including the City of Industry facility, as well as TekniPlex’s global sites.

JOB SUMMARY

Provide technical expertise for the custom medical tubing extrusion department, with a focus on new program start-up runs and process improvement.  This is a hands-on role involving process development and improvement with a wide range of materials, tube configurations and dimensional requirements.  This role also provides technical support to the inside sales team, regarding extrusion requirements for new product development. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process development, improvement, support and documentation for the custom tubing extrusion department.
  • Support extrusion operators for daily customer runs.
  • Design, document, procure and qualify tooling for extrusion runs.
  • Specify, qualify, develop processes and provide on-going support for new equipment.
  • Support the inside sales team with quotation and other customer activities as required
  • Assist in the scheduling of production and prototype extrusion efforts.
  • General support for all manufacturing and development activity.
  • Develop procedures and operator training for new process as developed.
  • Lead the development of new material processes, including FEP and PEEK.
  • Exhibits safety awareness and safe work practices.
  • Supervise Extrusion Operators.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with production related documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.
  • Travel as needed to other Tekni-Plex facilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10 years polymer extrusion experience. Thermoplastic tube extrusion experience preferred.
  • Previous work in a production environment with hands-on contribution.
  • Bachelor's degree in related engineering field preferred.
  • Previous experience training and developing others is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.

Salary $108,000 to $162,368 depending on Experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete timecards and work orders.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprints and technical drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to other employees of the organization.  Ability to effective present information and respond to questions form groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic, flammable or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and extreme heat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
