This is a high-impact opportunity to help build the foundation of MongoDB’s internal Executive Recruiting function during a critical phase of company growth and transformation. Reporting directly to the Director of Executive Recruiting, this role will serve as the strategic engine behind executive talent identification, market intelligence, and proactive leadership pipeline development across the business.
The Executive Sourcer will play a central role in shaping how MongoDB identifies and engages exceptional VP-level and above talent globally. This role requires a highly consultative sourcing professional who operates beyond traditional research — someone who can develop sophisticated talent landscapes, engage and qualify passive executive talent, and translate external market insights into strategic hiring advantage.

Key Responsibilities and Focus AreasStrategic Executive Talent Identification & Pipeline Development- Lead proactive sourcing strategy for VP-level and above searches across technical, go-to-market, product, G&A, and operational leadership functions
- Build and maintain high-quality pipelines of passive executive talent for active and future leadership needs across the company
- Develop targeted talent attraction strategies tailored to each executive search, using a broad set of channels beyond standard database and platform research
- Continuously cultivate long-term executive relationships to strengthen future succession and leadership planning efforts
- Identify, engage, and qualify passive executive talent through thoughtful outreach, direct market engagement, referrals, and network development
- Conduct initial executive-level conversations to assess alignment against role requirements, leadership profile, and career trajectory
- Partner closely with hiring managers and recruiting partners to calibrate candidate profiles and refine search strategy in real time
- Maintain rigorous standards for candidate documentation, market tracking, and search progress reporting
- Build comprehensive market maps for critical leadership roles, identifying target companies, organizational structures, reporting relationships, and relevant executive talent pools
- Deliver clear market insights on talent availability, competitor leadership structures, diversity representation, and talent movement trends
- Support executive search strategy through data-informed recommendations that improve search precision and speed
- Contribute to the development of repeatable executive talent intelligence frameworks that can scale across future searches
- Experiment with emerging AI-enabled sourcing techniques to expand research depth, accelerate talent discovery, and improve the quality of executive talent insights
- Continuously evaluate how evolving technologies can improve the speed, precision, and scalability of executive search work without compromising candidate quality or judgment
- Support batched strategic talent mapping projects focused on future leadership priorities and succession scenarios
- Help establish external benchmarks for key executive roles across critical business functions
- Partner on proactive leadership landscape work that informs long-term organizational planning
- Help define best practices for executive sourcing, talent engagement, and candidate presentation within MongoDB’s emerging internal executive recruiting model
- Contribute to the development of high-quality search documentation, talent presentation materials, and executive search operating discipline
- Serve as a thought partner in evolving sourcing methodologies, tools, and intelligence capabilities over time
- 6+ years of sourcing experience, with significant experience supporting executive searches at VP level and above
- Demonstrated success identifying, engaging, and qualifying passive executive talent across multiple business functions
- Strong executive research capability paired with the ability to independently initiate and sustain high-quality candidate conversations
- Experience building sophisticated market maps and translating talent intelligence into actionable search strategy
- Functional breadth preferred, with ability to work horizontally across technical and non-technical leadership searches
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and communication skills when interacting with senior executive talent
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple strategic workstreams simultaneously
- Experience operating in high-growth technology, SaaS, or similarly dynamic environments strongly preferred
- Executive searches begin with strong, well-calibrated external talent landscapes rather than reactive sourcing
- Passive executive talent pipelines are continuously developing ahead of formal search demand
- Hiring leaders gain deeper insight into external talent markets through high-quality search intelligence

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package.
