Own Icarus’s end-to-end visual storytelling, from concept and field capture through editing, animation, sound, livestreaming, publishing, and archival. Document aerospace development, manufacturing, flight tests, launches, and company milestones across commercial, social, episodic, and documentary formats. Build the content system and digital asset archive, manage livestream infrastructure, create interactive experiences, and protect sensitive information through sound OPSEC judgment. This hands-on role requires independent operation in remote, high-tempo environments and close collaboration with technical and executive teams.
The summary above was generated by AI

Icarus was founded on the belief that the Stratosphere is the Forgotten Frontier and that reclaiming it will define the next era of aerospace and what is possible from the sky. We build solar-powered aircraft that fly at 60,000 ft for weeks at a time, delivering persistent, affordable, and scalable presence from this layer of the atmosphere.

Mission

Re-establish and maintain dominance in the Stratosphere.

Executive Producer, Content & Storytelling

Icarus is looking for an Executive Producer, Content & Storytelling to capture, build and share the Icarus story as it happens.

This is a hands-on Executive Producer role, not a traditional social media, marketing or production-management position. We want an exceptionally experienced, highly technical creator who can operate as a one-person production capability, from the factory floor to flight tests, remote airstrips, operational exercises and major company milestones.

You’ll own the full content lifecycle: concept, capture, direction, photography, production, editing, animation, original music, sound, livestreaming, publishing and archive.

The goal is simple: document the journey, build the Icarus brand and bring the mission to life.

What you’ll do
  • Document Icarus: Capture aircraft development, manufacturing, flight tests, launches, deployments, exercises, milestones, successes, challenges and the people behind them.
  • Create Across Formats: Produce everything from commercial-grade advertising, product sizzles and social content to episodic YouTube series and documentary-length productions.
  • Shape the Narrative: Find and develop stories, not simply capture footage, and turn complex technology, operations, industry and human moments into compelling visual narratives.
  • Own Social: Develop and execute content across platforms, with deep expertise in LinkedIn, YouTube and emerging channels, knowing when the moment calls for highly polished brand content versus raw, unfiltered or live field storytelling.
  • Own Production End-to-End: Concept, direct, shoot, light, photograph, record, edit, color, score, sound design, mix, create VFX, motion graphics and 3D animation, finish, version and deliver.
  • Create the Sound: Compose and produce original music, score to picture, cut picture to music, engineer audio, design sound and deliver professional-quality mixes. Audio is part of the storytelling, not an afterthought.
  • Go Live: Independently plan, produce and troubleshoot livestreams from launches, flight tests, demonstrations and events, including cameras, audio, networking, power, connectivity and technical infrastructure.
  • Build Experiences: Bring the Icarus brand to life through factory visits, demonstrations, conferences, launches and other physical, digital and interactive experiences.
  • Build the System: Own digital asset management and create a searchable, tagged and structured visual archive capable of supporting daily content, institutional memory, multi-platform distribution and future episodic or feature-length productions.
  • Use Modern Tools: Apply modern creative software, automation, AI and technical tools to accelerate production, organization and distribution. Build new workflows or tools when existing ones aren't good enough.
  • Move Fast: Manage multiple concurrent productions, incorporate rapid feedback and deliver at the pace of a high-velocity aerospace startup.
  • Protect the Mission: Exercise exceptional judgment around OPSEC, customer sensitivities, classification boundaries and competitive information.
What we’re looking for
  • Deep, proven experience as an end-to-end creator across commercial/advertising, social, episodic and long-form filmmaking
  • 7+ years of professional production experience preferred, with significant experience independently owning productions
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a solo or highly self-sufficient production presence for extended periods
  • Portfolio spanning commercial-grade work, documentary storytelling, high-energy content and authentic field production
  • Significant history producing YouTube content, including recurring episodic and long-form work
  • Strong command of LinkedIn and polished corporate/brand storytelling
  • Expert cinematography, still photography, lighting and audio capabilities
  • Expert editing, color, VFX, finishing and post-production capabilities
  • Strong 3D animation and motion graphics experience
  • Professional composition, music production, sound design, mixing and audio engineering capabilities
  • Deep familiarity with professional creative and design suites, including the ability to quickly master new or bespoke tools
  • Livestream production, networking and remote field-connectivity expertise
  • Ability to independently deploy, maintain and troubleshoot a complete professional production package
  • Experience operating in remote, extreme, unpredictable and high-tempo environments
  • Exceptional pre-production, logistics and operational planning skills
  • Experience managing digital assets, metadata, versioning and multi-platform delivery
  • Fluency with modern software, automation and AI-enabled creative workflows
  • Software engineering, networking, web development, interactive media or creative technology experience is a significant plus
  • Ability to create interactive digital experiences or tools that extend storytelling beyond traditional video is a plus
  • Comfortable building systems and workflows rather than simply using them
  • Strong interviewing skills across technical, operational and executive audiences
  • Experience earning and maintaining trusted access in sensitive working environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional creative judgment, discretion and attention to detail
  • Understanding of OPSEC, responsible storytelling and information protection
  • Genuine passion for the Icarus mission, aviation, aerospace, technology and national security
Why Icarus
  1. A lot of equity
  2. Top market salary and bonuses
  3. Health, dental, and vision insurance
  4. Factory in El Segundo
  5. Real ownership, real hardware, real flight
  6. Small team, massive responsibility (but growing very fast)
  7. High signal (engineering) to noise (management) culture
  8. Dream desk setup
  9. Daily lunch
  10. Unlimited celsius
This is not a normal content creator job
  1. We are pioneers, not corporate managers.
  2. Icarus deliberately optimizes for high signal to noise. Engineering, manufacturing, flight, and execution matter more than process, politics, or management overhead.
  3. Your job is not to add bureaucracy. Your job is to make the company move faster.
  4. You will work side by side with the CEO and a small team of world-class builders. You will help build the company behind the aircraft: the factory, the team, the systems, the rhythm, the culture, and the operational backbone that lets us move faster than companies 10x our size.
  5. We expect full extreme ownership. This is a high-trust, no-BS team, and everyone pulls their weight.
  6. We want builders. No hand-holding. No fluff. No fake projects. No sitting in meetings all day. Just real execution, real hardware, real flight, and real company-building.
  7. You must thrive under pressure, learn fast, solve problems across functions, and push the company to operate at a higher level every week.
  8. We move fast. We go to Mojave at 4 am. We expect results and an obsession with quality and speed.

No tourists. No bystanders. Only builders.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
