Summary:
The San Diego Union-Tribune is seeking a Digital Account Strategist to join our team! This is a client-facing, revenue-generating role for a true sales hunter—someone who thrives on finding new opportunities, building relationships, and closing deals. This is a remote role (San Diego, Orange County, or Los Angeles residents only; on-site presence required for sales meetings and client events).
What you will do:
Proactively source, research, and qualify new business opportunities across multiple industries using a variety of lead generation tools
Align client audience segments with Skyline Studio’s full suite of advertising solutions—including branded content, influencer marketing, display advertising, SEO/SEM, video, social media, and print
Own the entire sales cycle—from prospecting and pitching to closing and account growth
Build and present strategic, research-based proposals tailored to client goals
Collaborate with internal teams to design integrated media solutions that drive measurable ROI
Maintain strong post-sale relationships to ensure retention, campaign success, and upsell opportunities
Serve as a knowledgeable advisor on current trends in digital advertising, media strategy, and marketing best practices
Track and analyze performance metrics, adjusting strategies as needed to meet or exceed goals
Represent Skyline Studio and its media brands at industry events, client meetings, and networking opportunities
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous learning initiatives
What you will bring:
Proven experience in digital and/or print advertising sales, ideally within local markets in San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, or Riverside
Existing relationships with local advertisers and agencies (highly preferred)
Familiarity with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred), along with Google Suite, PowerPoint, and Excel
Strong grasp of sales fundamentals—cold-calling, networking, pipeline management, and closing deals
Self-starter mentality with excellent time management and organizational skills
Exceptional communication and presentation abilities
Experience negotiating and managing multi-variable contracts
A collaborative, entrepreneurial spirit with a positive, team-first attitude
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for in-person meetings and events
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly range is $21.64 - $24.04. This position is eligible for incentive compensation (commission), cell phone, and mileage reimbursement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
