We are looking for an Environmental Attorney—Legal Counsel, Compliance— who can use his/her creativity and resourcefulness to work across most aspects of Anduril’s business, managing a full spectrum of environmental, health and safety issues. This requires a strong understanding of U.S. federal, state and local environmental, safety and health laws with the ability to digest and navigate similar laws in multiple jurisdictions outside of United States, including the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and other international locations where Anduril operates. In addition to handling environmental, health and safety issues, you will also support other regulatory compliance areas involving maritime, aerospace, and defense sectors. Experience across all of these areas is not expected, but a willingness to learn and adapt is.
The Environmental Attorney—Legal Counsel, Compliance will be expected to take responsibility for material projects which will have a significant impact on the company’s business. This position reports to the Associate General Counsel, Compliance, and will be based in Costa Mesa, CA or Washington, DC.
You will focus on the full spectrum of compliance and regulatory issues in the maritime, aerospace, and defense sectors. Of particular interest will be legal or compliance experience involving environmental licensing and emissions. And, at Anduril we exercise our technologies in both civil and defense environments. This role includes understanding our products, customers and operations to inform short term needs as well as shape longer term strategic planning in this area across our design laboratories, production facilities, and test sites.
This position will require knowledge in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and also the ability to provide environmental, safety, and health (“ES&H”) legal advice, counsel and service to the Anduril ES&H program. Additional areas of focus that Anduril desires are compliance experience with cybersecurity and cloud computing; FAR/DFARS supply chain; or privacy and information security. This position requires someone who is conversant in U.S. federal environmental, safety and health laws with the ability to understand and react quickly to compliance issues from business locations in multiple jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and other international locations. This includes experience in the environmental licensing and regulation of the construction of new facilities and emission system across the United States. An ideal candidate will be able to research U.S. federal, state, local and international ES&H and product/chemical safety laws quickly and thoroughly to provide compliance, liability, and business risk/opportunity advice. The Environmental Attorney—Legal Counsel, Compliance will be expected to take responsibility for significant material projects which will have a significant impact on the company’s business. Our team is passionate about the law and policy of defense technology, and you should have an independent interest in the key issues in this field. Anduril fosters a diverse, collaborative, culture with tremendous opportunities for ownership and professional growth.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
