Who We Are

Perchwell is the modern real estate listings platform built for agents to search smarter, collaborate better, and close deals faster. We are building the future of residential real estateʼs critical listings infrastructure: a platform where market  research and client collaboration converge. Our modern architecture enables continuous innovation at a pace legacy systems cannot match, with AI-powered features and mobile-first capabilities designed for how agents actually work. As consumer expectations and technology evolve, Perchwell remains focused on our core vision:  empowering real estate professionals with the most intelligent, data-driven, and connected platform in the industry.

This unique combination of institutional investment and deep industry alignment provides both the resources and market validation needed to transform the multi-trillion dollar residential real estate industry.

  • Own delivery of NYC market features, including adapting capabilities from other regions and addressing the existing market backlog

  • Balance reactive inbound requests with planned roadmap work while maintaining clear priorities and expectations

  • Collaborate closely with Customer Success and cross functional stakeholders to refine requirements and maintain tight feedback loops

  • Strengthen engineering processes including code quality, release readiness, and consistent execution

  • Begin building internal tooling and taking on additional product surface area as the team matures and capacity grows

Required For The Role
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience with at least 1 year of managing engineers

  • Strong technical experience with Ruby on Rails, React, JavaScript or TypeScript, PostgreSQL

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior and mid level engineers and foster healthy engineering habits

  • Experience owning production systems and delivering features end to end

  • Comfort working closely with non-engineering partners and navigating a fast moving, high ambiguity environment

  • Strong product instincts with the ability to partner effectively with dedicated PM support

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background contributing to or leading internal tooling efforts

  • Real estate industry experience

  • Elasticsearch expertise

  • Training in leadership development or structured feedback

  • Experience in small, high ownership engineering teams

Who Thrives In This Role
  • Disciplined and quality minded, preferring long term solutions over short term patches

  • Customer obsessed and energized by building for real users with urgent needs

  • Detail oriented and able to bring order to a fast paced, high volume environment

  • Highly collaborative, especially with non engineering teams such as Customer Success

  • Outcome driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

  • Growth oriented with the potential to scale alongside the team

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
