Who We Are

We started our company to help others launch and run their own businesses, at any stage. The way we help is by keeping it simple and supporting entrepreneurs one step at a time. Put simply: our mission is to enable anyone to start, run, and grow their business while avoiding the common pitfalls that derail hopeful entrepreneurs. No more having to wade through forms, taxes, or ongoing state compliance.

We are a remote company based in Austin, Texas. We have team members from Florida to Oregon and all points in-between. Take pride in your work knowing that it shapes how people all across the country reach their goal of starting, running, and growing their business.

If the idea of helping people and working with a genuinely caring, supportive team excites you, then you’ve come to the right place.

The Role

We’re seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Salesforce and Automation Engineering teams. These teams power the systems, integrations, and workflows that drive ZenBusiness’s internal operations and customer experience.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on technical leader who thrives on delivery excellence, mentorship, and driving operational efficiency through technology and AI. You’ll oversee Salesforce administrators, developers, and automation engineers (including nearshore contractors) to ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and aligned with company strategy.

This position reports to the Sr. Director of Business Systems and is fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a distributed team of Salesforce and Automation engineers, including full-time employees and nearshore contractors.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and coaching sessions to promote career growth and engagement.
  • Empower senior engineers and leads to own sprint planning, delivery, and retrospectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in software or systems engineering, with 3+ years in a management or lead role.
  • Oversee Salesforce architecture, development, and governance to ensure scalability, maintainability, and security.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to manage backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and roadmap execution.
  • Lead the design and implementation of automation and AI-enabled workflows that improve sales, service, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain strong DevOps practices, including version control, sandbox management, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensure platform scalability, reliability, and observability through effective monitoring and incident management.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to support analytics and reporting pipelines that inform key business decisions.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, governance, and development lifecycle.
  • Proven experience with workflow automation, integration platforms, or orchestration tools.
  • Familiarity with AI platforms or low/no-code tools for business process optimization.
  • Experience managing distributed or hybrid teams, including contractors.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a focus on alignment and delivery.

Process & Project Management

  • Oversee intake, refinement, and sprint execution for Salesforce and Automation teams.
  • Partner cross-functionally on project timelines, resource planning, and risk management.
  • Lead weekly production triage to ensure prompt and high-quality issue resolution.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Salesforce certifications (Admin, Platform Developer, or Architect).
  • Experience supporting Sales and Customer Success organizations.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps principles.
  • Familiarity with iPaaS, automation, and data tools such as Workato, UiPath, Snowflake, and Tableau.
  • Experience managing hybrid teams of full-time employees and nearshore contractors.
  • Startup or high-growth SaaS experience.

Remote Culture. A great company culture leads to happy employees, and happy employees lead to happy customers. We provide our employees with good salaries, benefits, equity, and interesting challenges that have a positive impact.

Let’s stay connected! We believe in staying connected, and we have a weekly “All Hands” meeting every week. We also have a social committee that hosts frequent events. We’ve held a virtual talent show, costume competitions, monthly lunch and learn series, Hackathons and more!

Benefits.  The company offers various benefits to employees and their dependents, including medical, vision, dental, disability, and life insurance, as well as parental and military leave. Other benefits include an employee assistance program, 401k + match, annual bonus, pet insurance, and RSUs. Paid parking* and 10 paid holidays are also provided.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
