Role Description

The Dropbox team is growing, and we're looking for an engineering manager to support this growth. In this role, you'll lead a team of 5-7 engineers in our Persistent Systems Organization, who play a crucial part in developing and managing Dropbox's primary online metadata storage system. It is one of the highest-scale and most critical custom database systems in the world. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, foster a culture of innovation, and enable rapid feature and product development.

Responsibilities
  • You will be responsible for growing and developing an incredible team of hardworking and motivated engineers with high expectations around individual ownership and impact.

  • You will ensure your team delivers extraordinary output, and continuously seeks ways to make an outsized impact.
  • You will set direction for the team, anticipate strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning.
  • You will help craft technical and product strategy.

Many teams at Dropbox run Services with on-call rotations, which entails being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. If a team has an on-call rotation, all engineers on the team are expected to participate in the rotation as part of their employment. Requirements
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience as a software developer, including 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams as an Engineering Manager
  • Experience managing teams supporting and operating services in production
