The Infrastructure Engineering team’s mission is to provide the cloud native infrastructure, automation and tools that enable teams across Toast to deliver products in a safe, secure and agile manner, with minimal operational dependencies.
As a Manager II - Infrastructure Engineering Compute and Storage, you will help shape the scale and growth of Toast's cloud platform, and systems infrastructure. You will contribute to the technical roadmap for the evolution of our products and services. You will grow the skills of your team and lead them to become more effective & efficient. You are passionate about public cloud computing; maximizing value and minimizing friction of using AWS products; and highly available, scalable, and secure systems infrastructure. On a given day, you might be working with the team to deliver solutions, coordinating discussions between partner teams, collaborating on roadmaps with architectural and product stakeholders, and conducting 1:1s.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Reports to the Director of Infrastructure Engineering and leads a team of 7+ US and Ireland-based engineers focusing on storage, database, and messaging systems. Current areas of focus include but are not limited to:
- Storage: Amazon S3, EBS, EFS
- Databases: Postgres RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB
- Messaging: Apache Pulsar, RabbitMQ
- Amazon Opensearch
- Compute: Amazon EC2, ECS
- Work very closely with the other other Infrastructure Engineering managers in the US and Ireland with team members in the US, Ireland, and India.
- Drives delivery of business outcomes across multiple teams, including planning and execution
- Collaborates closely with platform engineering teams
- Ensures end-to-end delivery of solutions, including ownership and operation of our cloud environments
- Defines & supports career development plans for your team
- Grows teams to meet business needs
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Experience hiring and developing empowered teams
- Experience in building network infrastructure, specifically in cloud environments
- Experience building and operating cloud services in multiple zones and regions in AWS or other public clouds
- Experience managing and building cloud native systems infrastructure
- Experience with Container Orchestration Services like ECS and Kubernetes
- A proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization.
- A strong sense of empathy for customers and teammates

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
Pay Range
$155,000—$248,000 USD
