We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Engineering Manager, IAM Platform (Ops, SRE & AI Enablement)
We are seeking a strategic Engineering Manager to lead our Identity and Access Management (IAM) Platform team. This role is responsible for the stability and evolution of our identity ecosystem, transitioning from traditional operations to a modern Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) model. You will lead the charge in using deep observability, pervasive automation, and AI-driven capabilities to create a frictionless and secure identity experience.
What You Will Do:
  • Operational Leadership: Manage the overall health and security of the global identity infrastructure. Serve as the final point of escalation for complex identity issues and lead comprehensive post-incident reviews to ensure long-term platform stability.
  • SRE & Observability: Establish a comprehensive observability strategy. Implement advanced monitoring, logging, and telemetry to gain deep insights into platform performance and user behavior, enabling the team to resolve issues before they impact the business.
  • Engineering & Automation: Drive a "platform-as-product" mindset. Replace manual workflows with automated, code-driven processes for identity lifecycle management, configuration, and deployments to eliminate operational toil.
  • AI & Innovation: Lead the integration of AI and Machine Learning into the identity stack. Explore and implement intelligent solutions for automated threat detection, risk-based access control, and streamlining governance processes.
  • Strategic Mentorship: Manage and develop a high-performing team of engineers. Foster a culture of engineering excellence where automation is the default and technical debt is proactively managed.

What You Have:
  • Experience: Significant background in Identity & Access Management or Infrastructure Engineering, with dedicated experience in leadership or management capacity.
  • Modern Engineering Mindset: A strong advocate for SRE principles, with a proven ability to move teams away from manual ticketing toward automated, scalable systems.
  • Observability Advocate: Expert-level understanding of how to use telemetry and data to drive engineering decisions and maintain high availability.
  • Identity Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of identity protocols, authentication frameworks, and authorization models in distributed environments.
  • Automation Focus: Experience architecting automated solutions for complex workflows and infrastructure provisioning.

Top Candidates Will Have:
  • Background in software development (e.g., Python, Go) for building custom platform tooling.
  • Experience implementing "Zero Trust" architecture principles.
  • History of leading large-scale platform migrations or digital transformation initiatives.

Additional Info:
  • The location for this role is Dallas TX, Nashville, TN or Peoria, IL.
  • Relocation assistance is available.
  • This role requires 5 days onsite.
  • Sponsorship is NOT available.

Skills Descriptors:
  • Budgeting: Knowledge of organization's budget process; ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget.
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools, and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Talent Management: Knowledge of the critical competencies required to achieve intended results; ability to generate consistent approaches for hiring, selection, retaining and leveraging talent across the organization.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
