About Onebrief

Onebrief is collaboration and AI-powered workflow software designed specifically for military staffs. By transforming this work, Onebrief makes the staff as a whole superhuman - meaning faster, smarter, and more efficient.

We take ownership, seek excellence, and play to win with the seriousness and camaraderie of an Olympic team. Onebrief operates as an all-remote company, though many of our employees work alongside our customers at military commands around the world.

Founded in 2019 by a group of experienced planners, today, Onebrief’s team spans veterans from all forces and global organizations, and technologists from leading-edge software companies. We’ve raised $320m+ from top-tier investors, including Battery Ventures, General Catalyst, Sapphire Ventures, Insight Partners, and Human Capital, and today, Onebrief is valued at $2.15B. With this continued growth, Onebrief is able to make an impact where it matters most.

About the Role:

As the Engineering Manager of the Delivery Team, you will lead a cross-functional team of Platform, Software, and Application Security Engineers responsible for the systems and practices that move software from development into production. The deliver pipeline belongs to you. This includes all systems and standards related to release orchestration and security automation that allows Onebrief to deploy reliably in mission-critical environments.

The quality of your team’s work determines whether engineers can ship confidently, whether deployments behave predictably across environments, and whether our software remains secure and compliant. Success requires constant communication, strong technical judgment, discipline, and clear ownership.

This role reports directly to the Director of Infrastructure.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers, setting a high bar for ownership, execution, and operational excellence.

  • Own the systems and engineering practices behind CI/CD, release automation, and environment management across the company.

  • Establish standards, in conjunction with other directorates, for thoroughly tested releases, rollback procedures, and operational readiness so teams can ship safely and predictably.

  • Ensure security controls are integrated directly into the software delivery lifecycle, including SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, artifact integrity, and policy enforcement.

  • Reduce deployment risk, shorten recovery times, and create clear operational expectations around release quality, uptime, and incident response.

  • Partner with various technical teams to provide support for reusable tooling, disparate deployment patterns, and repeatable workflows that improve delivery without creating bottlenecks.

  • Build systems and processes that support traceability, access control, change management, and compliance requirements across regulated customer environments.

What We Look For

You'll do well in this role if you bring:

  • 5+ years of management experience, preferably in software development.

  • Strong operational ownership with a bias towards action.

  • Sound judgement in high-stakes situations.

  • Experience with release trains.

  • Familiarity with air-gapped environments.

  • A record of improving release quality and organizational execution.

  • Strong understanding of GitOps principles with experience enforcing declarative, automated, auditable, and controlled promotion of changes across environments.

Nice to have qualifications:

  • Experience supporting deployments in defense, government, or other highly regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with Risk Management Frameworks (RMF) or similar compliance frameworks that feed into authorization pathways such as FedRAMP.

  • Experience building internal developer platforms or standardized deployment workflows.

  • Background in software engineering.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
