This is Engineering at Lattice

Lattice’s Engineering team continuously works to better our product and our craft. We use a modern, cutting-edge tech stack and love experimenting with new technologies. We strive for maintainable, robust, and performant code. We’re highly collaborative and continuously iterative and work closely with designers and product managers. We prioritize not only great technical architecture but also an amazing product experience.

About the Analytics Team

Lattice’s Analytics team is on a mission to make people data more actionable and accessible across the product. We're building toward a dual-mandate future:

  • Analytics as a Service delivers embedded insights directly within Lattice products to support user workflows, by providing a platform for internal developers to easily integrate and expose analytics in their features.
  • Analytics as an Experience is a centralized product offering, comprising the Explorer, Custom Reports, and Dashboards, and enables admins and managers to dig into data, uncover trends, and share insights to inform strategic decisions.

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead this full-stack team and drive both tracks of our analytics strategy. You’ll shape the systems that power analytics across Lattice, support developer enablement, and help design intuitive, impactful user-facing experiences — all in close collaboration with cross-functional partners across Product and Design.

What You Will Bring to the Table

You have 4+ years of experience directly managing software engineers. In this capacity, you have been responsible for guiding and coaching the development of your direct reports, providing performance feedback, hiring, and fostering a diverse, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.

  • Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Track record of aligning technical work with organizational goals and driving impactful outcomes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an adjustable style to executives, engineers, and nontechnical staff.
  • A strong commitment to Lattice’s mission and values, including Ship Shipmate Self, Clear Eyes, Own The Outcome, and What’s Next?
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity, autonomy, and responsibility; you enjoy figuring out what needs to be done—and then doing it.
  • You are empathetic and employee-focused: you care deeply about the people on your team, helping them to achieve their personal and professional goals, and enabling them to do the best work of their lives.
  • Preferably, you have professional experience with the technologies with which we work (Node.js, React, Flow, GraphQL, Postgres, Amazon Web Services).
What You Will Do
  • Translate company strategy into actionable team goals and objectives, aligning technical initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Manage, coach, and inspire a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, learning, and growth.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, promoting technical growth and aligning their development with team & company objectives.
  • Bring a relentless passion for continuous improvement for both engineering craft and processes.
  • Ensure a delightful, reliable experience for Lattice customers worldwide while simultaneously enabling a rapid pace of development.
  • Work with your team, Product, and Design to build new customer-facing products, and improve upon existing ones.
  • Represent your team to the larger org. Ensure they receive public recognition for their success and take ownership of their failures.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
