The Engineering Group Manager - Paint Engineering leads a team of engineers responsible for the end-to-end execution of manufacturing engineering projects. This includes process development, equipment design, and successful launch at assembly sites. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams-strategic suppliers, operations, purchasing, and supply chain-to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project delivery.
This position plays a key role in shaping the future of GM's paint manufacturing processes and demands a high level of independent decision-making and leadership during project installation and startup phases.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Define and manage project scope, budgets, timelines, and investment requirements.
- Monitor project milestones, proactively resolve issues, and mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and manufacturing best practices (Bill of Process, Bill of Equipment).
- Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless execution and successful product launches.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across Manufacturing Engineering, Strategic Suppliers, and Product Engineering.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets and forecasts, driving cost reduction strategies.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in manufacturing engineering.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing with demonstrated expertise in engineering principles and practices.
- At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role with proven ability to manage teams and deliver results.
- Strong background in project execution within manufacturing environments, including equipment installation and construction.
- Proficiency in processing equipment, throughput analysis, and manufacturing process design.
- Deep understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Solid knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with robotics and automation technologies.
- Experience in automotive paint shops and paint process engineering.
