What You Will Achieve
Working with Pfizer's dynamic engineering team, you will play a critical part in leading and supporting maintenance and reliability engineering activities involving the redesign, maintenance, and repair of utilities systems, buildings, and production/non-production equipment for the North Creek Manufacturing Facility, GMP Warehouse, and QC Laboratories.
As an Engineering & Energy Manager, you are recognized as a versatile team member with a broad range of engineering skills including both hard skills, such as data analysis and technical design, and soft skills, like problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and leadership. You will advance your career by supporting leadership in making recommendations and delivering results in the areas of utilities management, energy management, capital budget planning and management, and long-range project development all consistent with a variety of comprehensive, financial, strategic, and operational plans.
How You Will Achieve It
Engineering Manager:
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and reliability of electrical systems. May also include other utilities systems including HVAC, steam, compressed air, and water systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), environmental regulations, and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime of utility systems.
  • Lead the design and installation of electrical systems including low, medium, and high voltage infrastructure.
  • Develop and optimize operation and maintenance procedures for electrical infrastructure.
  • Supervises operation and maintenance of electrical distribution networks including transformers, switches, circuit breakers, contactors, and control instrumentation.
  • Manage vendors and consultants to ensure that contracts contain appropriate technical specifications and are delivered as required.
  • Define electrical systems and controls required to meet plant objectives and define a detailed plan necessary to complete approved projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Act as electrical engineering duty holder for site and maintain responsibility for all electrical ES requirement implementation.

Energy Manager:
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) and primary contact for site ISO 50001 program requirements consistent with corporate standards and relevant audits, to include into the development, design, or construction of energy conservation projects to ensure acceptability of budgets and timelines while adhering to federal and state laws as well as approved specifications.
  • Serve as primary technical contact and SME responsible for all monitoring energy systems, including motive power, thermal energy, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), or any other relevant systems to determine energy usage or potential energy savings, to include technical design and/or process changes to improve efficiency, quality, or performance in relation to energy improvement.

  • Identify energy saving opportunities and make recommendations for operational changes or projects to achieve more energy efficient operation site-wide through effective modeling, monitoring, and analyzing energy consumption both electrically and thermodynamically.
  • Prepare and present project reports as well as other program or technical documentation and operational reports.
  • Develop and support presentations for proposals for alternative energy systems and technologies up to the site leadership.
  • Serve as the site's primary contact for construction design information such as detail and assembly drawings, design calculations, system layouts and sketches, or specifications related to energy improvement projects.
  • Provide oversight to applicable domestic and international energy certifications.
  • Responsible for training development to personnel or clients on topics such as energy management and promoting awareness or use of alternative energy sources.
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.

Qualifications
Must-Have
  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of
    experience; OR a master's degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a PhD with 0+ years of experience; OR as associate's degree with 8 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience

Nice-to-Have
  • Professional Engineering license is strongly preferred (or actively working towards).
  • Understanding and knowledge of utility systems used to support biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations including but not limited to: purified water pre-treatment and generation, clean steam, clean gas, compressors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, electrical distribution, clean room air handlers, and building automation systems.
  • Prior project experience in the electrical design, construction, and start-up of large bulk biopharmaceutical facilities including GMP utility systems
  • Capable to manage projects to completion on time and within budget.
  • Strong technical understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and electrical engineering practices, codes, and standards.
  • Must be able tointeract well with peers, subordinates, and senior personnel in scientific, engineering, and operational disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate as a member on cross-functional and self-directed work teams.
  • Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Knowledge of VFDs, DC/AC Infrastructure, & High Voltage Experience.
  • Strong technical background in NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of alternative energy and/or symbiotic system integration supporting reduced energy consumption.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of energy assessments in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Ability to work weekends, travel, and work in aseptic areas (gowning requirements).

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $112 700,00 to $187 800,00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15,0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
