Job Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY: The Engineering Coordinator - Energy is responsible for managing various energy related continuous improvement and capital projects, and reporting savings on the projects. This position will manage project expenditures and other project deliverables, ensuring successful completion of energy and sustainability related continuous improvement and capital projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Engineering Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Manager in Training (EMIT), or willing to complete.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in energy project management, or industrial facilities management.
  • Experience analyzing energy operational data such as electricity, gas, water.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing, an asset.
  • Familiar with Ontario Hydro regulations, an asset.
  • Experience with process improvement and process equipment such as Compressors, Chillers, MUAs, Flow meters and Commercial & Industrial Building HVAC systems an asset.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create and oversee the implementation of short and long-term projects and strategies that increase energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimize unnecessary consumption.
  • Manage various energy related continuous improvement and capital projects.
  • Implement energy-related cost-saving measures with the support of developers.
  • Manage Formet's Energy and Sustainability team.
  • Prepare RFQ for all new projects.
  • Support budget creation, manage energy budget spending, project energy savings, and identify the goals for each project.
  • Submit formal documentation and status updates for all current projects, regular utility consumption data reports and documentation of results for completed projects.
  • Present recommendations to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Interpret all types of schematics and drawings.
  • Maintain all required documentation relating to projects.
  • Prepare analytical reports and read outs summarizing energy usage and savings through Magna's Energy Portals.
  • Sourcing out financial incentives and preparing and submitting applications.
  • Ability to work overtime to meet business needs.
  • Perform other energy related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Office and Manufacturing Environments
  • Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)

SAFETY AND HOUSEKEEPING:
  • Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the O.H.S.A.
  • Follow and ensure the company's procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant.
  • Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to Formet's safety rules and regulations.
  • Active role in maintaining excellent housekeeping through leading by example.
  • Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.
  • As with Safety, Security is everyone's responsibility and Formet requires its employees to contribute to this activity by immediately notifying your supervisor when you identify security issues that affect the integrity of our supply chain, in accordance with PIP (Partners in Protection) and C-TPAT (Customs - Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements.

ENVIRONMENTAL:
Follow environmental protocol as prescribed by the Environmental Management System (EMS).
