What You’re Applying For:
Edmunds is looking for a technical lead to transform our shopper services. You will be responsible for building delightful and engaging online car shopping experiences for consumers. Buying a car can be a daunting process that consumers begrudgingly go through every five to six years. You will work with a cross-functional team to create products that take the stress out of car buying.
What You’ll Do:
- Build rich conversational interfaces to bring the car buying process to customers via platforms they trust like Facebook Marketplace, WhatsApp, and Apple Messages
- Build tools to facilitate online automotive transactions
- Build and maintain Spark processes to aggregate transactable inventory from various sources and syndicate it to multiple customer-facing platforms.
- Mentor software engineers
- Own the development of features from technical design to production deployment
Challenges:
- Candidate must be unwilling to compromise quality for speed and must be able to effectively defend this position.
- Candidate must be flexible and willing to work with all levels of the technology stack
- Candidate must work effectively with product managers, designers, software engineers, and technical leads from other teams.
What You Need:
- Demonstrated ability to mentor others in all aspects of software engineering
- Demonstrated ability to see large-scale projects to completion
- Demonstrated ability to convert product requirements into technical specifications and effectively communicate them to both onsite and offshore engineers
- Demonstrated ability to design scalable systems and maintain them in production
- Expert level in building, testing, documenting, and refactoring software
- Experience designing and building maintainable APIs using either REST, GraphQL, or gRPC
- Experience working with all levels of the technology stack from the end user experience to the infrastructure
- Experience in a programming language that supports object-oriented programming
- Experience in a programming language that supports functional programming
- Nice to have: experience working with a cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Nice to have: experience with a big data platform such as MapReduce or Spark
- Nice to have: familiarity with modern web technologies such as React
