We are looking for a Tech Lead Manager to lead the ProducePay Fulfillment team. ProducePay wants to become the technological nervous system for the fresh produce industry - providing a singular place that customers can come to help manage their business operations. We've started this via our financing and marketplace products, but want to expand our reach by offering digital tools to help growers and distributors manage the full fulfillment pipeline. As Tech Lead Manager, you will be providing technical leadership and managing the engineers on the fulfillment team. You will be working closely with a Product Manager and Product Designer to rapidly iterate on different features for the fulfillment service.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Work with the PM to pick priorities, plan out the week, and assign work to reports. You aren’t just doing what the PM says, but instead you are working with them to accomplish a shared goal.
• Create and review tech designs for large features. You are responsible for the technical architecture of the system you are building (with guidance and support from platform engineers).
• Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality. We use code reviews as an opportunity to teach, learn, and maintain code quality. Conducting thorough reviews is an important part of leading a tech team.
• Write code when the team needs an extra productivity boost.
• Manage 1 - 5 engineers. We believe strongly in creating a culture of mentorship and growth within ProducePay. As a TLM you will need to conduct 1:1’s and help encourage and facilitate technical growth within your team.
• Have a hands-on attitude. While it’s important to delegate work to your reports, it’s also important to be willing to jump in and solve a problem or handle a crisis

Requirements

• Extensive experience building web applications. You’ve seen some stuff, and whether it’s good, bad, or ugly it continues to inform the decisions you make on the software you build.
• Experience building systems to handle large scale while maintaining high availability. Our stack includes React, Rails, GraphQL, and Postgres. We’re looking for team members excited to work with these technologies.
• Comfort with ambiguity. Our product development process takes rapid feedback and learnings from our users and applies them to future features. Week to week the priorities might shift as we gain new information.
• Experience shipping production-quality software for 5+ years.
• 2+ years of experience managing and leading teams of engineers (agile workflows preferable)
