Purpose:

Reformation is looking for a brilliant Sustainability Coordinator to support our sustainability programs and business operations. You will support our efforts to integrate sustainable business practices into all aspects of the company, playing an influential role in shaping our brand, our day-to-day operations and how we make product. You will play a critical role in building the tools and reporting systems so we know Ref’s impact in real terms. You are smart, like to tackle hard problems, and aren’t afraid to try something new. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and conduct footprinting assessments (CO2, H2O, waste) across Ref’s business operations; Maintain the RefScale tool and conduct weekly calculations
  • Coordinate offset programs and reporting
  • Build methodology for environmental & supply chain mapping to have better transparency and management of our raw materials partners
  • Prepare monthly newsletters and quarterly sustainability reports
  • Vet data/claims for customer-facing content
  • Prepare grant and rebate applications as relevant
  • Work with Purchasing and Production teams to vet raw materials POs to ensure they meet our sustainability standards prior to bulk order
  • Determine whether chemical tests/certifications are in accordance with our standards and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders; meticulously maintain accurate records related to testing and certifications
  • Stay up to date with new developments in chemical standards and testing
  • Assist in onboarding new vendors, including coordinating social compliance audits and collecting appropriate documents. Support and maintain reporting for Two Way Scorecard
  • Assist with sustainable fabric sourcing
  • Assist in vetting 3rd Party brands to ensure that they meet Reformation’s sustainability standards.
  • Responsible for data entry, and tracking of audit findings; Perform necessary follow-up with vendors on past due items
  • Support Operations teams by keeping environmentally preferred purchasing guides and green operations manuals up-to-date and as relevant as possible.
  • Continually research corporate sustainability efforts, policies, and trends to inform our roadmap and ensure Reformation is a leader in the space

Requirements:

  • BA or Master’s in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of work experience
  • Proven experience in carbon footprinting and life-cycle assessments
  • Familiar with chemical testing, and environmental/social certifications for fibers, fabrics and dyes; Ability to compare test results to specifications to determine proper adherence to standards
  • Demonstrated ability to write killer business cases to tie sustainability to business strategy
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (pivot tables), Data Entry, ERP (a plus)
  • Familiarity with LEED, B Corp, Higg assessments a plus

We have 2 offices in Los Angeles: In a trendy outdoor mall at The Platform in Culver City with great restaurants and cafes and in Vernon.
