Connexity is looking for a talented, highly motivated Senior Software Engineer.  We are not a LAMP stack shop, but rather a NoSQL, Big Data, Real-Time stream processing shop. Our architecture is unique and our software stack purposefully diverse. We are searching for an engineer that likes a challenge, wants an opportunity to work with cutting edge technologies, and thrives in small teams. We are looking for a developer that wants to "own" key aspects of the product and take pride in its evolution. Your contributions will be immediate and will be felt throughout the company. Connexity is fun, fast-paced, and open-ended with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and with emphasis on being innovative.  We provide an opportunity for our engineers to design around several NoSQL and highly scalable platforms including Hadoop.

Duties and responsibilities

• Participate in the architecture, design and development of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services
• Develop core technology and the refinement of existing code
• Work with business and operations teams to effectively execute requests in the project queue
• Write design specifications, programming specifications, and documentation
• Develop and maintain applications written in a Java/J2EE platform environment, operating on a Linux platform
• Collaborate with product management to produce functional specifications, including feasibility assessments, engineering time estimates, and strategic value assessments
• Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers
• Proactively assess new technologies to enhance the development process and environment
• Code most difficult and complex software modules
• Ability to drive critical and strategic / complex / high risk undertakings
• Recognized internally and externally as an expert in the field
• Determine leading edge technical / business approaches and/or develops major new technical tools
• Evangelize new ideas / technologies / solutions to gain acceptance from a wide range of audiences

Qualifications:

• Experience with Java (Spring/Dropwizard), Scala, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AngularJS
• Experience with distributed systems in a service-oriented architecture
• Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL or similar relational database technologies
• Insatiable desire to solve hard problems in a collaborative, fast paced, Agile team environment
• S. or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)
• Great but not required:
  • Experience with Hadoop, MPP databases or other distributed computation platforms
  • Experience with NoSQL data stores
  • Experience with AWS
  • Automated testing
