Sr Project Engineer, Nuclear Nonproliferation

As a member of the Civil Systems Group you will be part of an experienced team of scientists and engineers working together to advance the mission area of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN). Specifically, you will support our team working directly with the NNSA/DNN R&D office to help them assess performance, risk, and future needs of research into ground-based nuclear explosive detection to improve program performance and accountability. Your support will be instrumental in assessing research, operations, and processes from the organizational to enterprise level for DNN R&D and stakeholders in support of its nuclear nonproliferation mission. This work is a critical part of the U.S. government's nuclear nonproliferation efforts and has relatively high visibility across the community.
What You'll Be Doing
- Identifying issues and concerns relevant to the DNN R&D nuclear explosion monitoring area that could impact success across the enterprise.
- Planning and executing studies, independent assessments, and analyses to support DNN decision making within the nuclear explosion monitoring program area.
- Developing tools and methods for monitoring nuclear detonation detection technology maturation and transition, identifying alternative courses of action, creating metrics to measure progress, and communicating progress and alternatives to the DNN leadership.
- Measuring progress of technical and programmatic objectives in alignment with relevant Goals, Objectives and Requirements documents and Roadmaps
- Working closely with DNN leadership as a technical consultant to enable the them to identify and assess issues, concerns, challenges, and solutions relevant to this DNN program space.
- Communicate assessments (written and verbal) that provide information to decision makers in support of the program and U.S. national security goals.
- Reach back across Aerospace's Subject Matter Expert population to bring state of the art tools and approaches to the challenges of the program.
- Represent the Aerospace Corporation to customers in both the NNSA and DOD at all working and management levels.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- BS degree from an accredited program in Physics, Engineering, or a related field
- At least 12 years of progressively responsible experience in R&D, systems analysis, and/or systems engineering
- Experience working with U.S. government agencies such as DOE/NNSA/DNN
- Comfortable working with, and reporting directly to, executive management and key stakeholders
- Availability to travel domestically, up to 20%.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

$117,027 - $192,281 - $267,534
