Who we are looking for

Promenade (formerly known as BloomNation) is rapidly growing and looking for a Software Test Engineer. We’re looking for an experienced Software Test Engineer who can help our small but growing team of enthusiastic and ambitious engineers better identify, understand, and fix the risks in our products.  Our Software Test Engineers have a good understanding of exploratory testing and how it is applied to all kinds of different interfaces. You should be comfortable in testing new features, the designs behind those features, the code, and the software itself using a risk-based mindset for structuring your testing.

You understand the impossibility of complete testing better than most and are constantly striving to gather relevant information about risks. Maybe you’ve heard of the modern testing principles and you’d rather work in an environment focused on flexibility and agility rather than a traditional test management environment.  

You’ll be expected to create test artifacts as appropriate, build a test strategy, use the appropriate test techniques, explore all relevant interfaces of the application, design and execute tests, do some regression testing and identify, investigate and report bugs.

Specifically, you will…

• Work with Product and Engineering teams to understand the product, identify and test for known and unknown risks and surface that information
• Using some basic telemetry to better understand why problems are happening in order to make actionable decisions
• Investigate and document bugs in an actionable way to get them fixed
• Identify and communicate better practices for testing and improving quality
• Contribute to the success of the business by focusing on the value you provide

You will excel if you have…

• 3+ years experience in software testing
• Strong software testing experience across a number of different test techniques
• Good understanding of exploratory testing
• Strong spoken and written communication skills
• Have well-honed technical problem solving, analytical skills, and critical thinking skills
• Dedication to and an understanding of the various approaches to product quality including trade-offs
• Understanding of and use of more than one Test Oracle
• Experience using mind maps/concept maps to build high-level test strategies or product coverage outlines
• Experience writing Exploratory Charters and doing Session-Based Test Management
• Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
• Knowledge of AWS and Docker
• Programming skills
