To connect the world, we must reflect the world. At Virgin Hyperloop, we’re bringing together unique perspectives, empowering our community to celebrate all voices, and creating equal opportunities to build, grow, and thrive.

WHY WE NEED YOU

As Software Engineer - Perception, you will be part of the Autonomous Control Algorithms Team under Machine Intelligence & Analytics Department. The Autonomous Control Algorithms Team is responsible for core algorithms enabling the autonomous operation of the Virgin Hyperloop Transportation System, including onboard decision making, motion planning, perception, and safety protection.

The Autonomous Control Algorithms Team works closely with simulation and data teams within department to develop core onboard algorithms, libraries, toolchains, prepare autonomous control software for Software-in-The-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-The-Loop (HIL) tests, perform analysis, and iterate system and algorithm design. In the process, the Autonomous Control Algorithms Team collaborates with safety and system departments to rigorously verify and validate the developed algorithms and software. Ultimately, the Autonomous Control Algorithms Team works with embedded software department to develop and deploy safety critical software to production Hyperloop system.

Hyperloop vehicle relies on a variety of onboard and wayside sensors to estimate own states and percept surrounding environment. The state estimation and perception module is critical for hyperloop vehicle to detect safety hazard, avoid collision, and enable convoying operation. In this role, you will work on the development of core state estimation and perception algorithms using onboard and wayside sensors, including localization, visual object detection and classification, and tracking.

Ultimately, we will design a safe, autonomous, and intelligent command and control system that make Hyperloop a reality. We are seeking highly passionate and self-motivated candidates with various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility
