At Rapid7, we're building a security analytics platform to help customers easily find, manage and reduce risk. As part of this, tCell protects web applications and API services by detecting malicious users, and blocking attacks. As a member of the product delivery team focused on the tCell service, you'll be a key player in a high-profile group. This team works cross-functionally across engineering departments to ensure high uptime and performance.  We strive to maintain and advance a strong DevOps culture (empowering development, infrastructure as code, rapid iteration, etc) for a growing set of micro-services in a flexible cloud/container environment.We seek a highly motivated engineer to ensure our platform is secure, reliable, and available for thousands of customers that rely on it every day.

Role and Responsibilities:

* Automate all the things!

* Respond to any incidents that occur, ensuring rapid root cause analysis and remediation

* Be able to lead or contribute to post-mortems that ensure continuous improvements and building up of lessons learned

* Develop improvements to deployment, monitoring, and remediation automation

* Contribute to runbook and docs of any sort to enable team to perform common functions

* Collaborate with other teams to understand needs, and propose and drive solutions

* Work with others, including security, to ensure compliance and other security objectives are met

* Data driven for monitoring performance, uptime, and improvements

Requirements

* 3+ years industry experience in DevOps

* Works well in a distributed team to overcome obstacles and solve problems

* Ability to understand and refine requirements, and deliver with solid solutions

* Thrives on innovating new ways to improve efficiency and scale

* Excellent communication skills (written/verbal)

* Experience/expertise in a wide array of infrastructure technologies, including: AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and Packer

* Excellent scripting skills in bash python or ruby a plus 

* Experience in running JVM-based software

* Solid understanding of system administration, networks, and operating systems

* Experience in distributed data infrastructure, such as: Cassandra, Kafka, Druid, Postgres, Spark, Flink (or similar)

* Experience in CI/CD automation a plus

* Past experience as a developer a plus

* Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent, Computer Science a plus
